Second workout of the year in the books and another good sesh.
Made the most of low volume pause deads with PB top single @ 200kg and reps at 180kg. Leaving rehab PBs behind now and pushing into lifetime PBs. Followed up with split squats and good mornings to round off a solid workout.
Next workout will be light squat/bench and will set me up nicely to go big on comp deads for reps the session after that. Let’s go.
that’s what i’m talking about, looking strong piggy.
Rest day today so thought I would lay out my recovery:
Im looking to better than ever. A big part of that will be doing all the little things right to support training.
Diet wise I’m gonna stay heavy / in a surplus for at least half a year. Maybe get over 90kg and be the heaviest I’ve ever been. Just to create an environment conducive to recovery from training and making gains. The aesthetics may suffer but I’ll just be fluffy and look big in a shirt for a while.
Hydration is pretty easy. Sleep is tough though. Never seem to be able to get it right.
If I feel like it I can use a general purpose massager machine on myself. It’s pretty much one of those massage guns that are popular now just much cheaper. Was a good buy second hand for $5 (full price ~100 bucks) and much better than 300 bucks or more for one of the massage guns marketed to lifters.
Is that a sex toy ![]()
Yeah you club ur partner over the head with it.
Best $5 you will ever spend then.

Light squat and bench today. Nothing too crazy as we look to set up a big Monday deadlift session.
Double Pause Squat PRs 135kg x 3 and 140kg single. Long pause bench feeling good also.
Diet has been on point to get fat af but sleep has been dog shite. Luckily enough at this point in time to sleep in if I need but going to start prepping for post grad studies, work and more is gonna kick in so won’t get away with it for long.

Heavy deadlift sesh as promised.
Sumo Deadlifts PBs: 220kg x 5, 210kg x6
Was apprehensive going in but turned on the hype up going in. Form was the sloppiest it’s been in weeks in many aspects but hit my target weights and a bit extra: Rep PRs on deadlift at 200kg +.
Guess that means Back Rehab/Rebuild completed at least on deadlifts. Will continue to build resilience and address contributing factors to original injury but the focus shifts to getting stronger from here.
Been a long journey more than half a year in the making but I’m grateful I have the chance to learn from my past mistakes and keep making gains.
Probably going to be shit on tomorrow. Time to rest hard
Yesss #Sumopig2020
Just wait for the conventional deadlift block
Dude! Strong as shit, crazy speed off the floor, awesome in general. You’re building up to something big here.
really nice cheat deadlifts piggy, when are you trying the real ones ![]()
@guineapig, @simo74, how you guys doing over there? With regards to the fires and all I mean. Hope both of you are breathing in good air
In Melbourne CBD air quality is pretty bad. At risk peeps may have some issues. Smells smokey. Some places it’s like not even on the scale anymore
Shh u jinx it. Last time @Pinkylifting said that in April I injured my back and have been working back ever since.
But yeah I actually think I need to work on speed. It’s easier with the stiff bar to put max intent in. I need to practice on the deadlift bar: pull out slack then go from there ~30% force to 100% quick. Right now feels more like easing off the floor and to lock out
Maybe some Romanian style ones in a few weeks. Whatever I’m doing Rn is working so will run it a bit longer.
Doing ok, but air quality is shit at the moment. This is Melbourne today.
