Grow! Whey or Metabolic Drive?

I usually get atleast 90-100g of protein per day from my protein powder (currently Optimum Nutrition). It costs me about $70 per month for this. I’m thinking of switching to Grow! Whey which will be around the same price to keep up 90-100g per day.

But, now I’m looking at Metabolic Drive, which will cost me around $130 per month to keep 80~g of protein per day going. Is this big jump in cost worth it? Is the quality of protein in Metabolic Drive worth ‘double’ that of Optimum Nutrition and Grow! Whey’s protein?

And has anyone used both Grow! Whey or ON and Metabolic Drive?

Yes, I have both. I have a big 10 lb bag of ON Whey that I use in the morning or if I absolutely have to make up a meal quickly. I use the Metabolic Drive as my last meal sometimes, as it is casein and slow-digesting. Plus, the Metabolic Drive tastes so much better, blends much better, and is much more satisfying, in my opinion.

I see, but I’m wondering whether I should exclusively use Metabolic Drive - whether its worth it or not. Can’t afford both atm.

I wouldnt. I too use Grow! in the morning, B4 and After my workouts and throwout the day. I use MD as a meal replacement when I dont have time to eat at work and b4 I go to sleep.

Get one Grow! and one MD they should last about the same amount of time, well they do for me anyway.

I think Grow! mixes well it just isnt as thick as MD, I like to use a thinker like sugar free pudding plus that makes it taste better

You should buy a specific protein depending on your goals. Whey would serve you better as a post workout drink while MD is a more slowly released protein that would be used as a more general purpose drink(anytime, anywhere) for losing weight.

Edit: Either one works as a good midnight snack I suppose…so you could just try each one out and decide on which you liked better.

You know to tell you the truth, i love the MD chocolate, but for some reason the Grow! to me tastes horrible. I have had a lot of proteins in the past 15 years and 1st time buyer of Grow! and am not impressed with the taste!

if i were you just drink milk with some whey at night, you then get both fast and slow proteins.

then through out the day ADD MORE FOOD!!

Why don’t you give Metabolic Drive a try then you can judge for yourself?

I tried ON whey last year and was thoroughly unimpressed.

I now use Metabolic Drive all the time except PWO when I use Surge.

I’ve never had Grow!, but I’m looking into it. I love ON Whey because it’s thinner. I feel that when I drink the thick shakes like Muscle Milk and Metabolic Drive, that they fill me up and make me feel full and bloated.

Also, they suppress my appetite for quite awhile, making it hard to choke down my next meal. I’m assuming this is because they are MRP’s and have a lot more to them including casien. I reserve these for my bedtime meal.

I use ON throughout most of the day and para-workout mainly because it’s just that much easier to stomach for me. Plus, correct me if I’m wrong, but ON Whey is one of the most popular supps, aside from this site. I know it’s #1 on Bodybuilding.com
