Groin Pull--What Should I Do?

I hurt my groin last Thursday doing some 400 m repeats and playing basketball. I figured I’d tough through it and did some squats on Friday. I then took Saturday off (light jogging) and did some 200 m repeats on Sunday. It was feeling fine then.

I did some heavy, but low-volume squats on Monday, and some running as well. I did light exercise on Tuesday, but for some reason, it was starting to hurt again. I performed two sets of 15-rep squats today, and it’s hurting pretty badly. My friend trash-talked me into playing some basketball, which was not a good idea.

What can I do to recover from this? I think it’d be a bad idea to just tough out through this injury, but I don’t feel like taking a bag of ice to my groin. Should I take a few days off from lifting? Or even working out altogether?

Mate, do not tough through this. That was my attitude and I have had my left adductor tendon operated on and I’m going in to get my right done September.

I would suggest that you MUST get this checked out by a physio, surgeon or whatever.

I can tell you that the adductor tendon procedure is a bitch and toughing it out might lead to something as extreme as this.

Rest up and remember 3 days on your arse now, is better than 3 weeks in bed and months of rehab.

Thanks. I noticed your’s after I replied.

I’d go get it looked at. The adductors are something that will linger for ages and won’t get any better if the damage is done.
