is there some standard to follow?
such as dead squats, rows, or pulls— pinkys out, thumbs in?
pressing- slight decline, overhead-- pinkys in, thumbs out?

For pressing and rows you can use both. However the pinky out thumbs in grip is better for the slight decline bench, pinky out and thumbs in for the overhead press. For the Dead-Squat the thumbs in grip is the best option.
For rows both work equally well.
