Green Veggies

While reading the physique clinic i noticed that coach Thib in the guy with the fat loss plan is telling him to only eat green veggies, as in spinach, lettuce, broccoli, brussel sprouts. When looking to cut does your choice of veggies really make this much difference? i was under the impression that all veggies were good regardless of your goal?

all veggies are good but i believe the reasoning behind greens only to aid in fat loss is that others (such as carrots) have a higher sugar content, and may be less fibrous.

you’re going to get far more intelligent answers after me, but I’m pretty sure it has something to do with natural sugar levels and the amount of carbs and fiber.

that said, I plan on switching to steamed green veggies (such as the ones you and Thibs mentioned) when I switch up my diet.

I’m under the impression that all grean veggies are good for cutting (though I’m not quite sure about snap peas due to the higher sugar content).

The carbs in green veggies are almost all fiber which is indigestible (no calories). They are also lower in calories usually and have less sugars than vegetables such as carrots and tomatos. There is also less starch than corn, potatoes, peas, etc. These factors change the GI of the vegetables.

I’ve heard corn, carrots, and peas are starchy, and not on the “Free” list, but tomatoes too??

I’m on the V-Diet currently and I’ve been scouring the site for healthy eating tips for when I get have to transition to solid foods again and I was wondering if I could just let frozen veggies thaw out and then eat them with meat(or whatever) or if I would need to stir fry, or microwave them…

Haven’t tried it but I’ve thought about doing the same thing with frozen veggies. I don’t see a problem with it.

yea, already been said that those green veggies have less sugars/kcals and more fibre.

In my own opinion i would rather include the other vegies in my diet (toms, carrots)for the health benefit and adjust kcals to cater for them.

i do understand tho that thib is making sure that everything is done to the highest degree so that the participants and the onlookers get the most out of the experience
