Greatest Squats Of All Time

That is a great list of lifters. The grams of testosterone behind that would be staggering. hahahaha.

I think the reason for the drop-off in 1000lb squats is related a bit to the introduction of the monolift…since you aren’t considering those, a lot of the strongest guys (read: guys on a ton of shit) won’t be on the list. There are a couple of guys in the WPO now that could walk out and squat 1000lbs in single ply gear, but alas, we probably won’t ever get to see it. I’d like to see more of those guys do the Mountaineer Cup.

I agree 100%. Im sure alot of those guys could do it and something like the MCup would be a great format. If we could only get prize money, loud music, and ring card girls at a single ply meet with “fair” judging. Maybe oneday, KK pisses more people off everyday.

Beau Moore – 1024 @ 340. Saw Beau do this squat at a powerlifter’s event at “The Arnold Classic” in Columbus, Ohio in early 2005.

Right, but part of being on this lift is that the squat has to be walked out and in single ply gear.

Beau and all others at the Arnold used a monolift.

thanks

I got this from the sportivny press, I believe it.
If this was a a sanctioned meet and walked out with single ply gear I will add it…

Malanichev, 1034. Also lifted 1058, but no lift on depth.

not sure if this was already posted, but Lee Morans 1000 lbs is by far the most impressive squat I’ve ever seen given the circumstances…after 2 misses, who would have the balls to get under for a 4th attempt?

Not quite 1000-lbs but still impressive

Coan, 962 @220 in a full meet while totaling 2402. Probably one of the greatest powerlifting performances ever.

I’ve always found coans 220 records more impressive than him at 242.

They are all great Squats!
I’m a Captin Kirk fan.

One more to add to the list was Lee Moran I think… not sure of his bodyweight or top squat.
+1. the vid of his first 1000 was insane

Good catch, I was about to post it, by far the greatest single lift I’ve ever seen. When people complain about competing with injuries, I show them this.

Brian Siders also has done more than 1000

im just gonna put it out there and say that capt. kirk is the best squatter of all time. plus, ronnie coleman’s 800x2 squat was pretty damn impressive

^^^^^ This.
He did 1034 last year too. Made it look stupidly easy… I believe it is the heaviest single ply squat EVER in competition. He was unlucky with the 1058, got one white light.
Also Scott “Hoss” Cartwright with 1025 for the second heaviest.
Andrey Malanichev:

Heres another 1000lb squat to add to the list - Terry Bryan

That Malanichev squat is a god damn thing of beauty

This. Squat. RAW World Record. Andrey Malanichev. 450kg (993lbs). Knee Wraps. - YouTube
Andrey Malanichev squats 450kg (993lbs) twice.

Lee Moran did 1003 at SHW from what I remember btw. Fred Hatfield had the squat stands removed and brought back so he didn’t walk it out btw.

Don Reinhoudt did 935 raw and with crappy old knee wraps which was a world record in the day. He had the old SHW total record that was around 2400 from what I recall. I think he did a 600 lb or more bench with a mid to upper 800 lb deadlift.

EDit, just checked Reinhoudt’s 2420 total was later corrected to be 2391. This was essentially raw.

if i’m not mistaken he had the stands moved, but still moved his feet after lifting it off the racks.
