Greatest Pound for Pound Fighter EVER?

Since we’re bringing in other guys…

Ramon Dekkers.

Fedor, 26 wins in a row, no real losses. Beats k1 strikers at their own game, taps olympic wrestlers, Gnp’s BJJ experts into the mat, throws Judo gold medalists straight into an armbar, I have never seen Anderson or GSP do many o the above, except GSP outwrestling many world class wrestlers.

How many k1 strikers has Silva been against?

Their all amazing, but I think you have to go with Fedor.

Brock Lesnar

Pound for Pound, Brock is probably the weakest fighter I’ve ever seen in my life. It’s the fact that he has so many fucking pounds that make him anything of worth.
Yea, it’s only because of his weight. Of course there is that NCAA Division I Wrestling title that he captured. In his final two years of wrestling (98’ 00’) he literally dominated his division. He has a career wrestling record of 106-5. But, yea it’s probably just his weight that’s helped him win the UFC heavyweight title.

Look I don’t like him either but give the man his due:

If you think Fedor would have anywhere near the success against lightheavies your dumb. What light heavies has he fought Randleman. He fights ex champs and cans.

Nowadays that’s true. But he also fought a prime Nog twice, a prime Cro Cop, and has pulled victory from the jaws of defeat on numerous occasions (which is one of the signs of a true champion, they know how to win, even when things look bad).

Very true, Fedor is a dominant force in mma, maybe more his mental edge than physical, although he can be physically dominant as well. Pound for pound best right now? That’s difficult to say, but he’s certainly in the top two or three as the op suggests.

Im coming into this late but my vote is for FEDOR, He may not be at the top of his game anymore but he has beaten the best of the best and gone through more wars then anyone.

Anderson silva is probably the best now followed closely by GSP, but fedor is the best ever hands down.

He has beaten Cro Cop, Minotauro, Randleman, Murk Hunt, Lindland, Goodridge, herring and Arona.

GSP and Silva havnt compiled a win list that decorated as of yet.

You guys might laugh, but my vote goes to Matt Hughes when he was the champ for what seemed like forever.

If your going to say “the most complete fighter” its probably the guy holding the shotgun or knife who knows how to use it. If your gonna put a bullshit ruleset on it, why does it get to be the UFC’s bullshit ruleset. Why not val tudo? Fighters who need gloves aren’t complete. Why not muay burma/lethwei?

If you don’t know how to ignore brain damage and headbutt someone in a dirt circle you’re kind of a little bitch. A sport fighter is anyone in a combat sport. The UFC hasn’t tried to trademark the term yet, even if they will soon.

Hughes was incredible in his day. Didn’t he successfully defend his UFC title more times than anyone except Chuck Liddell?

I’m not sure, but I thought Hughes had the most UFC title defenses ever.

Anyone know??

Cro Cop, Minotauro,
Randleman sucks
Murk Hunt sucks
Lindland middleweight
Goodridge sucks
herring sucks
Arona Light Heavy
damn what a list

oh and Samart Payakaroon

I don’t understand why someone like Fedor gets to have every excuse in the world but somei=one like a Mayweather doesn’t.

What excuses? If anything, we need excuses for GSP and Silva. “Oh, GSP was going through hard times when he lost to Serra. He isn’t mentally weak.” “It’s not Silva’s fault his division doesn’t have a lot of competition. He makes them look silly!” News flash. Anderson Silva would have a much tougher time beating prime Nog and Cro-Cop than he did against Nate, Rich, and Hendo. Silva is taller than Fedor and their walking weights are the same, but Fedor chooses to fight at HW against guys who are bigger and stronger. For his entire career he is been the giant slayer and he wins on heart, technique, and the most fearsome mental fortitude in MMA.

If you want to know who the greatest fighter is, you need to have them fight each other. If you would bet money on GSP or Silva against Fedor, than that’s fine, we just disagree. But all this “relative” and “P4P” stuff is complete garbage when you are talking about 3 guys who are about the same size. GSP could up the juice and the calories and easily hit a pretty lean 220. We know Anderson could do it because he is already the same size as Fedor. I honestly think GSP would shit his pants if he was standing across the ring from a Mark Coleman, an Andrei Arlovski, a Tim Sylvia, a Cro Cop, a Nog. Fedor is the only one of those 3 that is fearless.
Absoultely. Took the words outta my mouth.

What so many people fail to realize is he is the hardest, most violent, hitter in MMA. Watch some youtube videos of fedor, and tell me someone will control the fight with fedor. Oh and whats his record again? 26-1-1. his one loss is from a very lucky cut stopage.

are we talking the usual “what have you done for me lately” p4p or a legit career spanning p4p? Either way its fedor, im just curious. In all fairness, I think Silva gives fedor a run for his money in the former. Say what you want about fedor’s competition, but there is something to be said for basically never losing in MMA, particularly in the HW division. After a while, its not luck.

I don’t get the people who pick GSP. Potential and well-roundedness equals dick when you get knocked out by matt serra. When he strings together as many wins as fedor, then we’ll talk. When did pinning a guy down and GnPing for 5 rounds become more spectacular than knocking out former champions in seconds?

Oh my bad Fedors 29-1-1 not 26

BEST POUND FOR POUND FIGHTER - A phrase invented, and commonly used by the president of UFC, Dana White. This term probly would never be used if Dana white had Fedor.

Pound for pound was invented by Dana White? My balls are showing.
