Great Point on Canseco

From Peter Gammons:

When players (or anyone) rail on Jose Canseco for trying to make a buck off the steroids issue, they should be dismissed because what in the world were the guys who used steroids trying to do? Make money. Not to pick on Jason Giambi, but since he has admitted to steroid use, that $128 million kind of tells us that it worked for him, eh??

Yee hee hee…I can’t imagine anyone will really have a good retort for that one  Some people might throw out the “integrity” and “ratting out the club” cards, but as I said in the other thread, the game of baseball has never been about integrity anyway. Along the lines of what Gammons said, those players who did them didn’t give a damn about “the tradition of the game and the people”, they just wanted their damn insane contracts, just like Canseco wants his book money…

After having read the book though, that guy is one of the most annoyingly conceited and ignorant people I’ve ever seen. Unless I’ve been braindead in my bio/physiology/anatomy classes, I’m pretty sure “fast-twitch muscle fibers” have never been called “fast muscle twitch fibers”. I know, I know, it’s minutae, but I guess being after being an ex. science major heading towards grad school soon, it just really started annoying me. I was about to rip my fucking teeth out with a string after how many times he said that in his book. And that’s not even the start of it. “I know more about steroids than medical doctors because I was a human experiment” and just other stupid shit like that. I know a lot of MD’s are also clueless and biased, but give me a break, Canseco.
