GQ Writer Seeks Help

Wouldn’t it be nice if an article came out where the writer asked the sports figure if they were aware of various risks and how they took steps to avoid possible adverse effects. As much as risks may be a part of the story so is the fact that they can be avoided!

There is so much damned hype about the risks, but nobody ever gives any press time about how easy it is to monitor health issues and take steps to ensure there aren’t adverse effects.

I haven’t used steroids, yet, though some day I might. I’m somewhat offended that the government feels it necessary to try to deny me the ability to live 30 more great years… why not have this stuff under a doctors supervision and dispense with the hysteria and risks created by the black market.

When you sober up, read post above. That article was written by a “writer”. You are a snotty nosed kid who thinks 34 beers = Hemingway in a bottle. You got a long way to go.

But, nice job jumping to conclusions, and acting like an first class asshole as usual. Hopefully, the article will touch upon the initial “reception” in this thread, and you’ll make your first appearance in a magazine. Then you can brag on your blog how you told that guy off and how cool you are. 170 pounds soaking wet and kicking ass on the internet - atta boy Fightin’ Irish.

Anywho, great article. I look forward to reading the next. Good luck![/quote]

Go fuck yourself you piece of shit. I don’t think the media wants a fair portrayal at all of steroids.

So your hard on is for me now, and not Prof X?

Its funny, because you’re the least intimidating, least intelligent guy on this site.

You come to Jersey, and I’ll show you how it goes.

(Rolling my eyes)
Maybe we can have a cage match in Hoboken and fight to the death! Gimme a break man…what a fag.

Irish I see where you’re coming from but if that guy breaking your balls is as much of a troll as you suspect him to be. You’re going to gunk up this otherwise decent post/discussion. You can obviously do whatever you want and I don’t want to sound like I’m playing mod or being an asshole, still it would be better to pm him rather then turn this into an arguement here. That’s just my opinion anyway.

Nah you’re right.

My apologies.

I’m guessing/hoping that he had more of a clue then was mentioned in the article and you had to condense it to just the basics to tell a story vs going into that whole detailed process of what the aas that he chose does or doesn’t do.

Wideguy-
Yeah, that’s pretty much the way it went. The ballplayer did do some research (on this site), but he also got a lot of information from fellow players. Some of it wasn’t so rigorous, scientifically speaking. On the other hand, he also had a chance encounter with a physician who told him that doing a cycle a year was essentially harmless. This anecdote was cut from the published piece; the thought was that it was a bit redundant with the Wadler/Fost sidebar I excerpted earlier in this thread.

In any case, maybe you can correct me here: It’s my sense that bodybuilders (who of course aren’t the focus of this piece) are unusual among pro athletes in the time they dedicate to learning about the mechanisms of PEDs. The baseball and football guys generally don’t have the time or the interest; what they care about is a) results; and b) being undetectable. Is this accurate?

Only the stupid ones. IMO. One of the more knowledgeable guys on the subject and the person who walked me through my first cycle was a D1 football player who posted on this site a few years back. Very intelligent guy, well versed and helpful. I know these atheletes are busy and have other things to concern myself with, but unless they have a doctor who’s learned and knows how to properly lay out a cycle with pct inclueded and their “health” taken into account you need to educate yourself.

In fact, and I think alot of people at this entire site will agree, you need to educate yourself even if you do have an “educated” doctor. It’s your body and the fact is you should be responsible for learning how to take a care of it. Now I’m not saying that taking aas to build bigger muscles or be better in your sport is “being healthy” but it is something you’re chosing to do to your body.

So why be an idiot about it and not educate yourself as much as you can. This unfortunatly is where all the negative press that aas gets and the lack of good studies and unbiased information makes things difficult.

It’s really surprising that some of these guys don’t take the time to educate themselves. I agree with WideGuy that it’s downright stupid.

It’s one thing for those of us whose livelihoods aren’t dependent on our bodies to do some informed experimenting, but you’d think that if your arm (in the case of your pitcher) is your meal ticket you’d want to be sure you were as careful as can be. Winstrol’s ability to contribute to joint pain sure makes it an odd choice for someone who has to pitch, which is already hard on the joints. Oh well. Hopefully Nate won’t talk about how lame it is that some (most? not alot?) of these guys don’t research in depth.

this will immensely aid the image of steroid users

Yes I’m very stupid and violent.

Good job on pointing that out guy. Good job.
