Anyone know of any good nutrition books that cover nutrition in general (nutrition for weightlifting of course)? I’ve been lifting for years but never really tried to clean up my diet until now. I just realized that I don’t know what to eat, what not to eat, or when to eat. I understand that there are hundreds of good articles on this site but I figured it would help me more if I just read a book that could tell me everything at once. Thanks for the help!
Precision Nutrition
If you’re serious enough about it, a nutrition textbook would be the place to start. A good foundational knowledge will help you sort out science from bullshit later on.
If you just want to know what to eat, probably Precision Nutrition.
I’ll definitely take a look at that. It seems like a great place for me to start. $150 is pricey though. Thanks for the help guys

If you want something cheap, outdated, and fun to have theres always the Franco Columbu book… I have it in the back of my car to flip through.
Precision Nutrition
It’s $97 till the 15th.
Tom Venuto’s is also good, at $40. It’s not as detailed as PN about nutrition but is fine for a sensible approach to body comp.

Food Rules by Michael Pollan.
It’s a collection of straight-forward tips explaining what to eat, what not to eat, how much to eat, etc. It’s based on what Pollan discussed in his previous book, In Defense of Food ( Strength Training, Bodybuilding & Online Supplement Store - T NATION ), but Food Rules is more simplified - “Just do this and that, but not that.” In Defense of Food gets much deeper into the the background and “the why.”
The info isn’t specifically for athletes, but they’re sound nutritional concepts that can serve as a foundation for whatever goals you’re after. Though, if you want to get technical, eating along the lines of Food Rules will have you eating similar to old school lifters like Sandow, Saxon, Goerner, and Hackenschmidt. That’s not such a bad plan.

It’s not a book, but its an article that honestly sums up what MOST (not all) people should be doing.
^^^ Haha classic Jim Wendler advice
I just bought precision nutrition last night while it was still $100. Solid marketing strategy on their part. I had no effing time to even decide whether or not i wanted to buy it because the $100 dollar “deal” only lasted till midnight. I’m sure it will be worth it though. Looks like a lot of good info for me to soak up
