Good Advice on Squatting

i am every typical douchebag at lifting. i have been lifting what i considered seriously for about a year. but i was mostly focusing on upper body. go figure. but i have seen the light and the error in my ways and about 2 months ago i did my first real squat and deadlift. for not performing those major lifts ever, my deadlift is actually decent at 365 with good form. the problem is my squat. i am putting a lot of effort into form and going to parallel at minimum. but it is weak. 4 reps of 235 with 245 max.

i am 6’3" long legged and short torso. not the best combination for squatting, but i still feel i am leaning too far forward to get the depth. any advice on a routine or how to squat deep without leaning in well appreciated.

Make you stance wider.

I’ve found this series helpful. Very informative.

Or front squat, most people drop the ego when they front squat (reducing the weight) since no one seems to do them anymore, which allows them to go really deep…

When I have taught friends in the past to squat, if they dont get it after the 3rd session i usually have them front squat for a few weeks and they always seem to pick it up really fast…

You have to lean forward for a back squat. The bar needs to stay over your heels, as you sit back you will have to lean forward to adjust your center of gravity. Otherwise you will fall backwards.

Best Squat information ever! Definitely check those videos out.

This thread has a list and link to most of them. There might have been a few more added since this post.
