Going Down Fighting!

Yep we do have some great places here, and some massive distances :+1:. Only a short one this time, just under 3000 k’s round trip, and petrol is $1.66 per litre at the moment here, grrrr!
@mortdk a show called Outback Truckers does a decent job of showing the distances and diversity of Oz :+1:

Didn’t end up doing legs before heading off, sitting and driving for a few days with sore legs isn’t fun, haha.
Just got back from up north SA, kicked it off going to Port Augusta to see the old dear, next morning went to Hawker, met my mates there, then up to Marree, stopping for the must have brew at the Copley Pub. Had a scout around Farina on the way too. No pics of the car at Marree as i enjoyed the pub way too much that night and crawled into the swag around 2am behind the pub
Next morning I bid farewell to my mates, (they’re heading off to Birdsville to cross the Simmo), I went down the Oodnadatta Track instead to Lake Eyre, then back a bit to Borefield Rd, through Roxby, Woomera (looked at the Rocket Park), Port Augusta and back to Adelaide. Jeep performed very well, used a shitload of fuel, haha. I do now have a nasty grinding from the front end, hopefully it’s the front hub, easy and cheap to replace, not the bloody diff again as I only rebuilt it just over a year ago!

Feeling good, have spent a heap of time dicking around with the car, changed all the speakers (they were crackly due to too much Metallica, Nirvana, Disturbed and the like :+1:), only broke 1 clip on all 4 door trims which is unheard of, added some sound deadening shit and changed the front hub and bearing assembly as it was munted! I knew as soon as I ripped it out, she’s very crunchy and loud, the bugger is not even 10k km old for fuck sake!

You ride the thing to hard, it only looks like a 4WD

Haha, it’s done a bit of wheeling since I replaced the front hubs/bearings. I did them at the same time I rebuilt the front diff. Hasn’t done anything too hard though, Border Track a couple of times, trips to the Flinders which is mainly touring on dirt roads. Ah well, shit happens, I’m just glad it didn’t seize doing 110kph and leave me stranded a few hundred k’s from nowhere.

Picked up an Iron Edge Log this morning, gotta love Gumtree. Have thought about pulling the trigger on one for a while, good excuse for more pressing variations, bloody love it! The bugger is solid as, weighs just over 40kg bare.
