Granger, just outside of Des Moines.

somewhat familiar with the area. The UPA meet there at the end of the month should be pretty fucking good, especially (am I really saying this?) for the RAWWWWW set. Efferding, Lillibridge, and what not. Actually a dude from my commercial gym is set to compete there as well.

Looking forward to seeing the results from that one. I think Efferding is going to try to put more distance between himself and Konstantinovs for raw total.[/quote]

Yeah, if I was in the position I would even drive down for this one. The Lillibridge kid is pretty off the hook for any age, much less 20. He and his Dad were at the APF Illinois meet I helped out at a few months back, family of beasts there. For RAWWWWW stuff I think the UPA, and SPF, have the best set up. They make it interesting, that is for sure.

happy birFFFday my friend. you are getting prettier every year…just like me.

isn’t there a rule about geared lifters even commenting on raw lifting?? i figured it would get you kicked out of the club or something.

getting more comfortable with the reverse grip bench??

Meat, please keep my secret.

Yes, like the reverse grip so far for assistance stuff. Not ready to take it to ME level.

Todays assistance work. Very unmotivated today.

Close grips 135 x 10, 225 x 10, 275 x 10, 315 x 10

dumbell bench 100s x 12, 125s x 12

rolling tris with mini band 3 x 10 w/100s

dips 3 x 15

bradford press 4 x 6-8

HS press 4 x 8-10

barbell curl 5 x 10

reverse curl 3 x 10

machine curl 3 x 20

rope down/extension 3 x 15-20 each.

blah blah blah. then coached a kid on squats for 1/2 hour, got the kid, and went home. made the mistake of not turning on the ac last night.

IT gets that hot in Minnesota at night? I thought all anyone needed was a fan.

gets hot and very humid. I sweat all through the night, drank three pint glasses of water when I woke up, one after the other.

The UPA meet at the end of July is in Dubuque, IA. If you go to it, go over to E DBQ, IL and get some foot-long chili dogs @ Mulgrews. I grew up in DBQ and am thinking about heading back for it. There some strong guys at that event.

happy birthday Petey! how old is you?

Thanks. Turned 39. Feel 29. Look 49.

Happy birthday Pete, hope you have the requisite huge meal.

Happy B’day!

Ahh, I remember when I was 39. Take heart and be patient, Pete, only one more year until you can be considered “distinguished.”

DL day. Went submaximally today because stress levels are high. Can’t worry about hitting PRs when I am this bound up.

Defecit DL 155 x 8, 245 x 5, 335 x 3, 425 x 3, 515 x 3, 535 x 3

stiff leg rack pull, 2 pin, sets of 5, from 315 to 585

Ghetto TBar, worked up to 7 plates + 30 for 8

leg press, 5 sets, 12-15 reps

GHR supersetted with ab wheel, 4 x 12 each

prowler, 10 x 40yards x 90lbs

kid did 40 yard sprints the whole way with me, not bad for a almost 4 year old.

Coached some younger guys pulling. Same ones who squatted yesterday. They knew I was going to be there so decided to come in a pull the day after squatting. Told them not to do that again. Guess I am coaching pro bono.

Edit: not that I minded providing constructive feedback, I just think it is stupid to squat one day and pull the next. That was my bitch to them.

Happy 1 day late birthday, teacher.

Happy belated b-day.

If you do not mind me asking, where do you coach?

30 minutes elliptical, 1.75 mile walk.

30 minutes elliptical today. benching got moved to tomorrow. Wanted to do some outside stuff today but weather and kids got in the way. oh well.

nice to see you have collected a couple padawans of meatheadedness, and that your boy likes to help you on the prowler. good times.

subpar benching. A) it was 8 a.m. on a Sunday, B) I have been having some serious upper back pain for a while now, should do something about it, but it kept me from getting tight and C) I have another sinus infection brewing, which meant no air, which also made it hard to stay tight.

All Raw today, which also is a negative:)

140 x 10, 230 x 9, 320 x 3, 2 board 350 x 3, 390 x 3, 420 x 2, x 2. On each 420 set I ran out of air and just kinda turned into a limp puddle on the bench after 2 reps. I should have gone for a single rep PR, not tried triples today, but oh well.

full range 320 x 8

my close grips are stronger right now.

pulldowns 6 x some
bent laterals 5 x 12-15
band pressdowns 5 x 20

Petely, I only wish I could have a bad bench day like yours.
