Going Bananas

what exactly is a yard ape? [/quote]
whoops. Yard ape must be a regional term >around here its slang for kids.I got my two boys who are about to drive me nuts.

Things are looking good in here with everything. It will all happen in one day you will be getting the job, the baby boy will arrive and earlier in the day you will set a huge Pr on the bench while your dogs are chasing around your 4-yr old sounding like a siren.

Fischer, I like your thinking, but can we make it a squat PR? That’s where I really need one.

One of those is my “beast” the other is my “petite fluer.” He’s a big lover, and she’s a soccer playing fool. I just can’t fathom going through life never touching a dog. Each to his own, I guess.

First miss training day in almost 4 years?? Wow! No wonder you’re so strong. I miss training days all the time. Now I feel like a lifting loser. Hope your wife has this baby soon for her sake. She sounds uncomfortable.

woke up with some viral bug thingy. Breathing sucks and limbs feel leaden. Went to the gym anyway and did this:

Reverse band dl: worked up to 635 x 3. Not max, but I felt like shit and this is also a good starting point to build on these. I am doing to do these probably every other or every 3rd DL session for awhile.

that pretty much took a whole hour, and everything I had from a ephedra tab and a can of low carb monster.

Struggled through the rest.

Leg press 5 x 10
Hammer strength high row 5 x 10
face pulls 4 x 10
cable abs 4 x 10
GHR 3 x 10
ab wheel 2 x 10

Skipped prowler/sled work and went to Wendy’s instead. Have an interview tomorrow, going to try and sleep as much as possible and hopefully feel better.

Thats bad ass lifting, particularly being sick

Nice work Big Pete.
hang tough- and let us know when the new arrival is here.

Jack those are awesome dogs-

If I can read your thread like everybody else I can make some futzpah’s too: Let me get this straight, you took an ephedra felt sick and your having an interview @ Wendys ? Go get’em big guy! Oh and you let a band pull up the bar for you ?

Seriously good luck on the interview tomorrow and some good pulling there. I still think you should still get your certification in personal training and do that part time.

yeah, a personal trainer that actually knows how to get someone strong. that would be cool. Then there would be 2 of you.

got a two mile walk in today. still feel like poo poo.

I was in a fog 3/4 of todays interview. However, they want me back Tuesday for third and final. Have another interview scheduled that day, but that one is paying about 1/2 of this. eff em.

Fischer, thing with becoming a PT, I fear it would wreck something I love, if that makes sense.

I just read through everyone’s comments, and sorry for any misunderstanding. Wife was contracting 20 minutes apart on Monday, so I skipped squat night, but then nothing happened. And hour later, past my time to leave and get to the barbell club and be in the mix, she said, hmmm, guess not tonight, why don’t you do a bunch of landscaping for me instead? Squat night is sacred, my chance with the mono and to get over the gayness by squat has become, so I was a little pissed. But being a man who tries his best to internalize the shit and not burst out that his squat is more important than her hormonal waves, well I shut the fuck up and pushed the prowler.

Anyway… I think that is the first I have said how I really felt at that time. I am probably going to put any trips to the BB club on hold for the next few weeks, depending on a)baby finally showing up b) would rather get something in at the local gym, than nothing and c) all this new career stuff.

What is weird is all these huge burst of energy the wife has right now. Today she cooked, cleaned, and did dishes when she stayed home with kid while I interviewed. She is hoping that this is her stay at home ticket, and frankly so am I.

And Fischer, that was actually some funny shit this time. And yes, I did let the bands lift the weight. I actually went into the garage and got my average bands out because I felt too much like dog doo to lift the weight myself.

She’s nesting. “Stay at home” I’ve noticed more and more we want to return to simpler times. One works, one stays home and domesticates. The less ‘stuff’ I think I NEED, the easier this gets.

Veteran move.

Feeling a little better today. BB club closed, everyone at meet in ND. Commercial gym shenanigans:

Bench 135 x 10, 225 x 5, 275 x 5, add rev band 315 x 5, 405 x 5, 475 x 1, 525 x 1, 545 x near miss. This had a lot with me rigging the bands up stupidly. I had them going straight up and down, and I was pressing in the ‘j’.

Floor press 225 x 6, 315 x 6, 365 x 6 PR

V grip pulldowns 6 x 10

bb curl 5 x 10
band pressdowns, two minis doubled up 5 x 12

laterals 3 x 10
bent laterals 3 x 10

prowler 10 x 90 x 40yrds in rain, in a still heavily sanded parking lot, sucked dirty butt. made me decide to go to the liquor store after.

Ruglayer, you are right, we can make things work the old way if we don’t get so damned needy. I no longer to always feel the need for the best and shiniest and fastest technology. I would rather have my wife taking care of my kids all day, instead of someone else. I hope we can make this work.

Nice work. I’ve found that when 2 people want the same thing, the chances of success increase by a factor of 10.

Wow, some real mature talk going on here. Pete, you and rug both have your head on straight. Kudos.

I third that notion. Pete when I took the plunge and became a “daydad” and part time trainer(30hrs a week) it was a little bumpy at first, but I would not change a thing and would’nt you know I love to train even more now.(pertaining to kill the enthusiasm for your own self training).

Yeah, I might still love it. The other thing is my wife really wants to be the one to be at home. I want to see if I can make that happen for her.

Today, 30 minutes elliptical followed immediately by 2 mile hilly walk with a curve of ‘hamburger hill’ thrown in. I call it this because after this particular hill, my dogs are hamburger.

This will do very little to compensate for my seeming uncontrollable hunger, and mainly hunger for bad things, right now. Call it stress eating. Today I have been very good, but have had more bad days than good lately.

DE Lower/Lower assistance whatever.

Because of all the stressors, my main goal over the next month is just to try some variations, get some training in when I can, and at least maintain conditioning and strength. What this means is mostly I will just be trying to relieve stress and have fun in the gym, not stick so close to the template. Next meet looks to be 10/23, if all life’s variables will allow. So here is what I did today:

Box squat, low box, close stance:
275 + hundo in chains x 5
315 + hundo in chains x 5
365 + hundo in chains 3 sets of 5.

never done chains or bands for over 3 reps. What is interesting on every set the 4th and 5th reps were pretty damn slow for that light of weight. Definitely felt more of a ‘pump’ as well.

trap bar dead 335 x 8, 425 x 8, 515 x 8

hanging leg raise 4 x 10

low pulley row 5 x 10-12

dumbell shrugs 3 x 12 w/130s grip was fried when doing these

seated leg curl 4 x 12, not sure what weight

backward drags, 4 x 40 yds with 135

forward sprints 6 x 40 yds with 135

was at nicer version of commercial gym today, enjoyed implants and yoga pants

you CANNOT go wrong with yoga pants. at least usually.

Nice to see you doing some cardio (reps 4 & 5 heehee)

My wife has been stay at home since ours was borneded. we only had the one so that she could avoid having sex with me a second time. I think our son has really benefitted from having a parent at home all the time, so if you can make it work, it is totally worth it. Even if you have to work 2 jobs for awhile (as much as that sucks).

I am thinking good positive thoughts towards MN, but I’d be happy to whack someone for you if necessary.
