Great work, Pete. The thought of 500#, teetering on top of my arms, over my body, still rattles my brain.
I noticed the comment about the shirt being loose. How much of a change in weight can you have before it causes problems with a shirt fitting well enough to get the job done? I guess it would vary from person to person, based on here they gained and lost weight…but in your case.
One other question… What sort of ROM do you get from a 4 board press? I’ve never gone above 3 board (don’t have a 4th).
Skip,
a few pounds can change gear quite a bit. My 4 board is very limited range, between my arch and my trex arms its only a few inches.
MJ, dropping on purpose. I was heavier than I was comfortable with for walking around, everyday purposes, although it definitely was helping my bench. No meet in site, and another kid on the way, I am trying to find a balance there. I am now 260ish again and fell almost athletic. Or, as my prowler partner said yesterday after we completed all the trips: “we are in really great shape for a couple of fat guys.”

Pete, when you get the chance, would you check the 3 board press video on my log. What I am wondering is whether my ROM is what you would expect from a 3 board press, or if my arch makes it more like a 4 board. Thanks…
2 mile walk, trying to eradicate some of the bad calories from earlier today before I consume more tonight.
Skip, you rom is that short, you could add 4 boards in. If nothing else the overload helps, i.e. just getting a weight that much heavier in your hands.
mother’s day brunch: went to our favorite neighborhood spot, I got a philly cheese steak omelete w/hashbrowns and white toast dipped in a vat of butter. her requested dinner: crab legs, garlic mash, and asparagus. Right now I am trying to make the executive decision whether to follow the pregnant lady’s move to dutch style apple pie ala mode or touch it out with my nitely last meal of an omelette (6 egg white, 3 whole eggs, some cheese, some ham).
new briefs arrived right before I headed out for squat night. almost kissed the UPS guy.
raw warm ups to box 145 x 5, 255 x 5, 345 x 5
briefs on 435 x 2, 5 x 2 @ 525
working on set up, getting the feel for the gear, and unracking straight up. I have always kind of goodmorninged the weight out raw and when squatting in gear in a power rack, cannot do that with gear in the mono, or at least not recommended. My foot placement has to change too, need to go wider, so I just stayed with a safe weight to get in the flow. NOthing was heavy, and nothing was to depth either. Next week will wrap my knees and go a little heavier.
ghr 6 x some
dumbell shrugs 5 x 15-20 @ 120s
hanging abs 5 x 10
reverse hyper 4 x 10
prowler, alone, in the rain
10 x 40 yds x 90lbs this sucked ass, almost skipped but remembered last nights apple pie a la mode
nothing hard today, my DE day will look more ME this week, lol.
don’t you find it interesting how one’s actual head can get bigger?? i look at pictures of myself from back then and i had this little ass head. now i’ve got this huge block on top of my shoulders that most hats won’t fit in.
and… i wouldn’t call it uglier. i would call it manlier. men aren’t supposed to be pretty.
feel crappy, think I am fighting something off. This is what I managed today
