How much carryover do you get from the ball and mask?
Bunny, Jack, that is only when I am training with Ned and Zed, and not sure if there is any real carryover…

Sorry to hear that the interview didn’t pan out. That has to be a bit disheartening.
I started reading through your log and got depressed about my own performance so I kind of scanned through and avoided the bits that make me feel bad about myself.
In an effort to scan through and not feel bad I couldn’t tell if there was any meet stuff. I assume with your love of rubber gloves and all gear related stuff that you compete. When was your last one?[/quote]
I compete, but I am currently a bomb master. last meet was 2/20 here in the Twin Cities. I just switched over to multi-ply about 5 months ago, went in with a token squat and plans to bench 610/640/660 and pull about the same (raw pull). well, dumped attempt number one, and two and three my left wrist limped out a half inch from the top. as of yesterday that is cured:)
Right now the team I train with is split between competing at APF masters in June and the ND meet the weekend after. I however will be on baby watch, wife is due around that time. So am hoping a decent APF meet comes up end of summer or early fall so I can finally get a geared total in. Only total I can claim to was raw a while back and that went 550/380/600, first meet after years of gym ratiness, coming off of a shoulder injury, and went 3/9. Yeah, just got my openers in… I tend to do a lot of stupid stuff last minute, like get all amped up on stimulants so I shake to much to hold a bar on my back.

Last July and August I bombed two back to back on squats. I had taken a stimulant and I think that was a big part of my problem. I opened both times at 125 (275) and either dumped it or cut them high. I didn’t compete again until this past January at Provincials where I kicked ass and won the best lifter sword. It was in large part to sucking it up and dropping my squat opener to one I could do raw. I wore my guys super large suit and didn’t wrap for the opener. I nailed it and my confidence was back. It sucks ass and I don’t think I’ll ever put a 125 attempt in for anything. Now I save the stimulant until after bench opener and it kicks in for deads.
wife let me sleep ridiculously late today. my whole upper body feels like a mack truck ran it over from yesterday. managed a two mile walk for today’s conditioning.

Something about being all tweaked out with heavy weight on your back in front of a bunch of people looking at you just doesn’t mix. Trainin partner just threw away a shit load of money to travel and compete to miss a weight he has gotten 100 times. My objective for the next meet is to find the lightest weight I can get depth in full gear: that will be my opener.
More gear deficient squatting tonight:
145 x 5, 235 x 5, 325 x 3, 415 x 3, 505 x 3, 555 x 3
stability is much improved, but my left leg just insn’t kicking in, so on to unilateral work
single leg leg press 5 x 12-20
dumbell shrugs w/120s 5 x 15-20
ghr 5 x 12
hanging abs 5 x 12
new ab thingy 4 x 15
hammer curls 70s x 10, 80s x 10, x 8
prowler 10 trips 40 yrd 90 lbs
need to get left leg to fire better before my squat will move up. also, will not be ditching box squats or DE work as planned, just need to be smarter on heavy days, and deload DL correctly. At least that is my plan for now.
Hey Pete. I got my power pants in the mail yesterday. Do you have any advice to make them easier to get on. I used suit slippers but because it’s just the bottom half, there isn’t much to grip to pull them up and no straps to hang from the rack with. I’m thinking of sewing ‘handles’ of some sort on them. They don’t have to be nice for a competition since they’re just for training. I use upholstery thread to sew my suit straps and it will hold a shit ton. They took forever to roll over my ass and even longer to roll off. I need some pants grippers.

The powerpants will get easier to get on pretty quick. For getting briefs on we usually back up to the upright of a bench after wiggling as far in as you can. Stand on tippy toes and have partner grab back of briefs and hook over bench upright, drop and wiggle until you get further in. Repeat for each side as necessary.
Handles sound like a good idea too, even for the super gear whore the powerpants are typically training only. For the supreme gear whores it is what you do your warm up squats in…
30 minutes elliptical this a.m.
What fed do you lift in bro. Those numbers are really good. I am a fifty plus lifter and if you don’t mind I will follow your log.

Know nothing about gear. How long do you usually keep these pants on for? The whole session?

Just for squatting, usually. Though I guess powerpants, not the regular briefs, could be kept on for other hip dominant work.
I just said ‘just for squatting’. Typical geared squat workouts, where I train, with say 5 other people working in, can run 3 hours easily.

The doctors gave us 6/30 as due date, but with the last measurements the kid’s two weeks ahead in growth, and also Ewan, our 3.5 year old, was 4 weeks early (and 6 lbs 10 oz at that). Right now she is useless after work, waiting on her hand and foot is the current norm. My two trips a week to the BB club leave her exhausted from hanging with the toddler.
Did 2 mile walk with dogs tonight. Somehow Butch, the 150lb American Bulldog, gets stronger each year. Just from walking, and being Butch. When we first got him he was a year old and 110lbs. Tried to put him in the trendy harnass things that actually work well for the St Bernard. Snapped each and every one like they were nothing. For perspective he has about a 23 to 24 inch neck.
Tonight, he snapped his chain link collar, twice. First time no big deal, we were walking into the park, he turned and pulled a little hard and stood there wondering what was happening. Came back over to me and I rigged it back up . Second time, on the way home, stopped at another park where wife and kid were playing. Got a call on my cell about a job, he wanted to meet some new kids, and snap, it was gone. Fortunately he is the epitome of a gentle giant, listens to everything I say (unless there is food between us), and really loves kids. But he does look like a white pit bull on GH, test, decca, DBol, and three cows a day. Scared the !@it out of a grandmother with 4 toddlers, but within seconds, after chekcing on Ewan, he was back by my side.
Coolest thing is how he and Ewan have become thick as thieves. They will sit and watch Dora, or at Butch’s request, Animal Planet, together.

Picture of old stinky:
Damn, time flies. The kiddo will be here in no time. I bet your wife can’t wait, though, it gets real uncomfortable right about now.
