Box squats 10 x 2 s/275 casual pace, light weight trying on different briefs to see what works best for training
rack RDL from 2 pin worked up to 585 x 3 still lots in tank
power squat worked up to 810 x 12
hyper 4 x 12
leg raise 4 x 12
sled sprints 10 trips, 40 yards, worked up to 170 on sled
feel like hell again, gonna try and convince 3 year old to take a nap with me.
Spring allergies acting up? Not effecting your strength at all. Nice training.
810x12
Damn!
spring allergies, yes, but a while back finally went to an ear nose throat guy. He asked me, after looking at me for 2 seconds, when I last broke my nose. Ten years ago. How long have you been getting sinus infections? ten years. Then he looked inside. He described my septum as a smashed flap. Will need surgery, when I am flush with cash again… turns every minor cold and allergy into a full blown sinus infection.

Pete, next time get seperate beds and you won’t hear each other snoring as much. My strongest friends can’t squat 800 lbs. No wait I don’t have any friends.
no…no…you have it all wrong. the key to sleeping in the same room with a bunch of big dudes that snore is to be the first one to fall asleep. I always search the tv for some action flick that everyone is interested in, then i immidiately roll over to go to sleep. then everyone is left to listen to me snore all night.
Scott is the resident expert at sleeping with lots of big dudes…
elliptical 30 minutes today. Sinuses so fugged it actually felt like work.
worst sinus infetion in memory. antibiotics ain’t doing their job
planned to get back in the shirt today. woke up, walked into bathroom, sneezed and turned the whole room into a bloody crime scene. cleaned up, got ready, went and did this:
Bench RAWWWW 140 x 10, 10, 230 x 5, 280 x 5, 320 x 5
4 board 410 x 3, 460 x 3, 500 x 1, x 2
full range 320 x 10
4 board 410 x 10
bent row from floor 135 x 10, 225 x 10, 275 x 5 x 10
concentration curl 3 x 15 w/40s
shoulder press (machine at barbell club, neutral grip only right one I have found) 4 x 10-15 w/120
Prowler 40yds X 90lbs x 10 trips
Nothing like turning your house into the warehouse scene from Reservoir Dogs and then hitting the gym. It looks like you and the Prowler are coming to an understanding, even if you can’t really be friends. Good training.
Jack, as of today I completed the ‘beginner’ trips on the prowler sick as shit after lifting, spewing blood out my nose on my last two trips. But I thought it was easy. So for now we have made friends. Or I need to smoke some cigarattes and add weight to the prowler, or some variation of that.

ahahahahahaha! What Meatus does not know is what they do to him when he is sleeping… lol!
steady bloody nose for 48 hours. Stopped it up to squat and pull tonight. No gear for that reason again.
Squat worked up to 505 x 5. Heaviest rep set over 3 reps in eons. fuggen felt a huge burn from 5 reps, lol
Defecit pull worked up to 605 x 1. Thought this was a PR, if it is only by 5 lbs though. Damn.
GHR 3 x 10
leg raise 3 x 10
DBell shrug 3 x 20
Prowler 10 sprints x 90lbs x 40 yards. Now they really look like sprints.
Whole lower body already getting sore.
Nice work, even with the spewing nose.
today 30 minutes elliptical and 1.5 mile walk. Legs are trashed from last night.
Great training Pete. Hope the nose stays dry.
going to start second reound of antibiotics today, for the sinuses.
article in local paper on gym that hosted last meet. one of my training partners pretends to squat 650 raw:
http://www.startribune.com/local/south/89330947.html?page=1&c=y
mentions another training partners sick pull at the meet as well.
nose calmed down to just steady snot/blood drainage. Really sucks when laying prone, like benching.
Determined to now keep all training in 4 sessions a week. I am such a gym whore, I just like going, but it isn’t doing me any good being there 5-6 days a week. Or more sometimes when I am really feeling stupid. Plus with the kid it turns into a half day event. And now it is nice out. Would rather take him to the park, or if it isn’t nice stay inside and look for jobs more.
This is what I did today.
ab wheel 4 x 15
de bench 8 x 3 @ 165 + dlbed minis. Really light, but I need to work on getting fast again.
wide pulldowns 8 x 10
reverse grip pulldowns 3 x 10
close grip bench 225 x 6, 275 x 6, 325 x 6. Six reps sucked, this is where the snot started to choke me.
rolling tris with mini 3 x 10 w/100s
hammer strength inlcine 4 x 10-15
seated dumbell curl 45s x 8, 65s x 9
hammer curls 75s x 10, 90s x 6
laterals 3 x 10, last sets w/50s
bent laterals 3 x 10, last set w/65s
rope down/extension/cable curl 2 x 15 each
face pulls 3 x 15
ahhhh, the joys of lifting without breathing. still looks like strong work to me.
Because of my nose situation I have a hard enough time breathing when I am ‘healthy’. This mucus and blood crap just makes it worse. On the close crips I was literally choking on the last couple of reps.
Managed 2 mile walk with the dogs tonight. They dragged me for mile one, I had to push the pace the last mile.
On the job front got second hand confirmation that the company I been courting/had been courting me will most likely hire me pending budget stats. Another company started converstation with me, one in Northern Illinois. Close to the wife’s family, and there is a great gym with people i have trained with there. Actually, I told my wife about their follow up with me, and she said ‘That would be so cool,’ and I said ‘Yeah, I wouldn’t even have to look for a monolift.’ She thought I missed the point of her being back home. Actually I did, but I played it cool. ‘Yeah, we can live closer to your family…’
The anxiety sucks though. Once the baby comes, and the wife is on leave, the funds will be even more drastically reduced. We will make it, but shit, still scares me.
That being said my bond with my 3 year old over the last several months has grown so, so strong. Our communication is so sychronized now, our understanding of each other so, so easy. I feel blessed, and I have never been a religious man, or much of one. He amazes me with his intellect, his conversation is amazing, except when he is trying to flirt with the fitness chicks I know at the gym, that swoon over him: suddenly he becomes a little tongue tied goof ball. Wonder where he gets that from.
Yesterday we went to the coffee shop by the house, where we buy our xmas tree every year. They have a tattoo shop and a garden shop connected. Got him a blueberry muffin, myself and iced coffee. After we were done we wandered around looking at the cool statues and carvings they have, all done by local artists. And I mean local as in living in the 2 mile radius. As we were walking back to my truck we were passing by a bench they had out. My 3.5 year old says:
“Dad, lets sit down here on the bench for a little while, I want to talk to you about the bad dreams I have sometimes.”
That, quoted verbatim, blew me away. Just amazed me. And made me appreciate the time I have with him so much. Wish to god finances weren’t an issue, and could live like that care free with him every day.
Oh, BTW, the bad dream had to do with giant dinasour bird swooping in at him but then he changed into Peter Pan and had a sword so everything was ok, he flew away into Mommy and Daddy’s bed. Actually cool stuff, I need my dreams to be more like that, lol.
