Word, doag.

Nice pulling. Kroc does two variations: ‘light’ weight for high reps w/no straps for grip, really effen heavy weight for low reps for upper back strength…

Thanks for the clarification Pete. Guess when you’re strong like him anything people see you do gets named after you.
KMC & Skid; my wife always says no one understands when I’m joking cause I never change expressions or tone. Guess it comes across over the internet. She calls it being a smart ass as opposed to deadpan, though.
Dog and JW, marriage is the only war where you get to sleep with the enemy.
I’m not eating any different or maybe I should say any better. My workouts are essentially the same but everything seems to be working better. Huh? For the past month or so I just seem to be getting more out of my workouts. Even seem to be growing. I’m feeling stronger and even recovering better between sessions. Uping the weights on some lifts and just doing more. Maybe all mid-life crisis aren’t bad.

The oft mentioned shed nearing completion.

Its beautiful. I could move in with you guys and EAT WITH YOU!!! Your family knows how to hit the chow, and now that you have built me such nice servant’s quarters, I’ll move in on Sunday!

yeah. My understanding of them is: ridiculously heavy, low reps, with cheating movement.

I’ve been slowly increasing my weight on these, and I’m annoyed because my gym doesn’t have plate DBs…just those solid, fixed-weight ones. And they don’t have anything bigger than 90 lbs. I have no idea how I’m going to keep going, and I really want to, since my back seems to benefit much more from DB rows than BB rows (probably because my BB row form sucks).

Friday was a good night. Fell in with some riff raff doing bench. The 395 got stuck right off my chest. Spotter gave a pull and I took it the rest of the way. One guy went into the mid 400s. Another, bodybuilder type, only went up to 355 but he was doing sets of 10 with it.
Observation. All cable machines are not the same. The pulley systems on the machines at my new gym don’t provide as much mechanical assistance as the machines at my old gym did,i.e.,100# feels heavier on these than on the other ones. I like this better.

From the “Never assume anything” department. Finished my work out and wandered over to the cardio section where the wife was using a treadmill. She’s still got about 15 minutes left to go. She says try one of the machines. Well, I don’t need no stinkin’ cardio. I walk 6 miles and go up over 300 sets of steps a day. Swimming takes care of the breathin and heart rate thing. Ok, I’m bored. There’s this climb, walk, slide, contraption next to the wife’s treadmill. I’ll own this thing. Let’s crank it up! Hit the “quickstart” button, get the rhythm down, and start to speed up. I’m not a minute into this and the quads start to say hello. Then they start to burn. I haven’t been on this damn thing 2 minutes yet. Look at the digital dispay thing and I’ve gone .o1 miles. Dismount. Look over, wife’s got the classic shit eatin grin goin.

Think I’ll add a little more cardio to the workout.

Great benchin grandpa. New gym sounds interesting. Hope all is well. If you remember how to use a phone, call me. Go to the tavern and have a beverage on me.

Strong work as always!

Thats a good workout hel. Thats some really powerful benching y’all were doing

Strong work there Hel.

Awesome pressing hel. You never cease to amaze…

Cleaned 275 and pressed 265…friggin’ impressive.

Hel you are very inspiring
great work.
Huge cleans, and press, Huge bench and some serious squatting great week.
I remember in college the throwers owned the footballers in the weight room.
Nice work.

the shed is not so shabby either.

The thing about our little corner of the site here is the support we give each other. Very little of the admittedly small amount I’ve read in other forums contains anything other than sarcasm and oneupmanship. What many on this site fail to realize is how helpful the positive support of peers can be in any endeavor. Mr Donne was indeed right when he said no man is an island. What’s all this rambling mean? Thanks for all the support. It really means a lot to me and is very much appreciated.
Meanwhile, my shed is finished and ready for Mr mjnewland to take up residence and assume his new duties.

Sunday, early morning swim, cooked my world famous pancakes at the vets home, did the yard work.
Had some things to do after work today so didn’t make it to the gym. Off tomorrow so plan on hitting it real early.
Finding myself playing to my strong suits again. My bench and presses, while I truly love them, don’t need the work my Legs and Back do. Currently working on developing a workout based more one bringing those areas up. More to come.
