My God there is some serious benching and other types of lifting really heavy stuff over here. Man, you are a strong dude, dude. Very inspiring.
Thanks guys, just seem to be going through a stage where everything is working. Other than normal DOMS all parts are feeling good and strong so I’m gonna push things and see what happens.
Going to be doing back and legs on the same day for a while. Going to transition into heavy back, light leg and then the next workout will be reversed. Working on a workout to alternate light/heavy on the other body parts, too. Probably a name for this but I don’t know it. Too soon since I did deads and heavy squats so I did both light today:
Squats
135,185wu
225x8
275x8
315x5x3
Leg ext
hammer iso leg
80ea x 10 x 3
calve raises (seated)
90,115,125,135x max
Lat pulldown (cable, wide grip)
120,130,140,150x10
seated row (narrow grip)
120,130,140,150x 10
Face pulls
80,90,100,110x10
BB shrugs (behind back)
135,185xmax
Front
185,225,275,325x max
Heavy day on back will be deads and bent rows. May put in stiff leg deadlift on light day, too. Heavy legs will be heavy squats (duh), zerchers, and possibly some leg presses. Frankly, I’ve been holding back on going balls to the wall on the legs. Its a bitch to climb all the steps on my route when the DOMS sets in real good.
Sliced a roost real thin, marinated it with soy sauce and pepper, cooked it, mixed in raw broccoli and green onions. Divided it into several servings of about a 1/2lb each that I can carry on my route. Add a little hot sauce, soy sauce, and vinegar and eat it cold. Been having a whey drink every morning and using Surge Recovery after each workout along with 2 Curcumin 500 tablets a day and fish oil. Trying to get a handle on eating enough and right. Now, if someone would just discover RC colas and honey buns were a necessary part of a well balanced diet I’d be a happy man.

Great workout and plan, hel. Shoulder still doing okay with the squats?
I haven’t had an RC since they went to plastic bottles. It just doesn’t taste right unless it is in glass.
I dig that avatar hel.If Barry makes it to bama to train with you, he will put the hurt on your pancakes.Your squats have come a long way.Keep hammering away.I like the alternating heavy days too!
Hey Hel, training is looking great. How are you liking the circumin 500? I love the stuff.
Hel, are you taking the Curcumin for pain relief? If so does it help?
I’ve been using the Curcumin 500 mainly for DOMS and it seems to be diffinitely reducing that.
Last several days
Shoulders/Bi light
chest/tri light
Throwing
This morning, quick swim
Haven’t had much time to post lately. One of my brothers found an old 1956 Allis Chalmers tractor he’s restoring and been helping him out. Lot of work. Nephews are doing all the welding & body work.
Got the engine out, everything on blocks and the whole thing pretty much disassembled in his barn. (I’m good at that part, not so much the puttin it back together). He’s at the searchin around for parts stage now. So it’s pretty much been work, work out, over to his place.
My next Highland Game is 5 Sept in Chickamauga, GA. They’ll be having a Master’s division, over 40. Those of you who remember your history may recognize this as the site of a very famous battle during the War of Northern Aggression.

I bet that Allis will be a sweet running machine. I have a guy that has restored about 10 old Farmalls. Funny how we can be drawn to that old machinery. I have some AC steam vavles in the shop to be sandblasted and cleaned. They weigh about 470 lbs a piece. I’m going to make some end tables out of them…
Damn good lifting in amongst all that work and play!
Today
deadlift
135,225wu
295x6
365x5
435x4
505x1
435x1,1,1(hold)
Bent rows
135wu
225x8x4
Reverse wood chop, db
55,65,75,85x8
Squat
135,225wu
315x5x5
Zerchers
135wu
185x8
225x6
275x5
315x3
Good workout. Wife logic for my good workouts. “Cause I started working out with you.”
Awesome DLs hel. How did the 505# feel? I know how it would feel to me, but just wondering from someone who can actually pic it up…lol.

You can’t argue with that logic! I think you have had some helluva good workouts lately
squats, zerchers and deadlifts on the same day? you’re gonna give me an inferiority complex. worse than usual!
Thats a lumbar crushing day there Hel. Big time numbers too…
Last night
22# stone throw 10
28#wfd 10
56#wfd 10
56#wfh 10
approximately 1500m swim
LS, the 505 felt a little heavier than I thought it should. Gave some consideration to using a belt but figure it might change my form. The 435 holds were for grip and I timed them using the very accurate 1001, 1002, ect. up to 10 method.
Joe, after I do the deads my back is tight but I’m finding the squats take away the tightness. My zerchers are pretty straight up and down and hit the gluts and quads.
Getting pysched for my next competition. Really want to improve my numbers.
You must have good flexibility in the hips most of us don’t. I’m with the other guys. Its either deads or squats but not both. My back wouldn’t stand for it.
Big lifts over here hel… Impressive.
Heard about the Curcumin 500-- so you’re liking it? My chiro suggested ‘bromelian’ for inflammation, too. I may start on one or both…
Really liking the curcumin 500 Steely. Don’t know if it’s just the placebo effect or if it really works but my DOMS is definitely less. Guess it doesn’t matter.
Question for anyone wants to answer; Do you feel a belt actually adds poundage to your squats and deadlifts or does it just allow you to lift what you’re already capable of without getting injured?
Tonight
bench
135,185wu
225x12
275x10
315x8x3
Incline bench
135,185wu
225x8
275x6
295x5,5,4,3
Seated db press
50,55,60,65x10
front delt raises
35x8x4
Rear delt raises
30x8x4

It will help your numbers on squat and deadlift ONLY IF your back is your weak point. I would say with confidence that yours is not. They say you should wear the belt a little loose, take big air in your tummy, and push out against the belt. I do that, and it helps me a bunch, but my back is my weak point, so supporting my back allows my legs to do more work.
Lots of lifters don’t use a belt. I put mine on for lifts at or over 300, cuz I tweaked my back once and could barely walk for a week. With your back being so strong, I wouldn’t worry about it until you think your back is the weakest part of the chain.
Tonight,
Arms, swam, had to get to meeting. Bed now. Good night john boy.
