Goin' Kickin' and Screamin'

It were very wet. It were very cold. There was standing water everywhere. Rational people stayed indoors watching the tube. What’d I do? Got with 6 other guys and played in the mud. Most fun I’ve had outside of bed so far this year. Highland practice. 5 others showed up. 4 had their “A” status and one’s near going pro. Ranged in ages from 26 to 54(guess who?). Nearest to me was 43. I might of been slightly bigger than one of the guys but all the rest were near or over 300#. We hit every event. Got some much needed work in on the caber and sheaf toss. Caber was a 100#er, 16’ long, mid size as cabers go. The sheaf started weighing 20# but after a few landings was soaked and had to weigh double that.
Covered in mud and soaked to the skin we finished the day off at a nearby rib and wing place. Last night soaked the old bones in the tub for a long time.
Notes of interest. One of the guys does strongman training and has all the equipment at his farm. Planning to start an annual contest. Got an invite. We’ll see how that pans out.
The highland game I’ll be competing in on 20 Feb has a women’s category and so far 3 women are signed up. I’ve never seen them compete so it’ll be interesting (unless they beat my throws)

This morning, 0600
Ready to hit the gym hard, leap eagerly from my warm bed, and… ah shit!

That’s it. Talking the wife to see “Legion” so some good ole theatre popcorn and soda on the menu for today.[/quote]

That sounds like REAL fun! I wish I was a seagull in that field looking for worms. It sounds like y’all really tore it up!

Nice work, Hel. Sounds like you had heaps of fun splashin’ around in the wet!

Excellent work my friend. And Bless you for the swimming. I sink like a rock.

i need some friends like that. playing rugby in the mud followed by the bar will always be my fondest memories of college.

Hel… fantastic training! And the bunny in the avatar… he is sportin’ wood (hard on for our friends from Europe).

And I am gonna make my way down south one of these days soon and swill some bourbon/ whiskey/ beer with y’all. I am gonna map out everyone’s location on the eastern USA… take some time off and start drivin’ with nothin’ but the clothes on my back and my gym bag, chalk and belt in the back seat… and start visiting some of you guys.

That would be hella fun…

that would be fun…

aches or not thats some nice benching, hel.

I bet all those ‘young guns’ got out of bed real slow as well the next day. Great benching.

Hel you do know how to live.

nice work

Sorry for not posting much lately. Been very busy. Guess like 99% of the country the weather here has been really crappy. Plus, the stupidity infecting much of the country has come to our neck of the woods. Last Friday we had a school shooting and yesterday a teacher denied tenure killed 3 other teachers and wounded several others.

Been working out, alot. Vids of some lead leg squat jumps I’ve been workin on trying to get some more explosive drive for my throws. Do them after squats. Lead leg (right) is up on one of those low aerobic step things and drive up from there.

Been lifting a lot and getting in some throwing, too. First highland game is this coming Saturday so I’m really up for that. Suppose to get some more snow starting tomorrow. Vid is of the twist I’m doing for the disc and other spinning throws. Thought I’d throw in some different stuff. Going to try and catch up on everyones logs this weekend in between winin’ and dinin’ the wife for Valentine’s Day.

Good work, Harry, you are looking strong as ever.

Hel, you are a fluke of nature. You either give me something to aspire to, or live with the crushing knowledge I will never be able to do the shit you do. I havent decided which yet.
