Great time had by all at the rodeo last night. We set a new record for the amount made and it was for a good cause. I’m sure I set a PR for eating Bar-B-Q, slaw, tater salad, and drinking ice cold A&W Root Beer.
Sunday seems to be turning out to be my back/leg day. Just keeps working out that way
Today
Lat pulldown (machine like hammeer but named HQ Line)
140,190,240x10
Behind the back BB shrugs (smith machine)
315 x max 4
Squats
135wu
225x8
275x6
315x5
365x4
385x2
zercher squats
135wu
185x6
225x6
275x5
295x3
Tried using a belt today. Picked out one of the normal width, regular belt buckle ones. Really screwed up my deadlifting. Couldn’t get it comfortable. Took it off after the first few sets. Squats were a different story. Back in the day I’d wear a regular belt and turn it around backwards, buckle in the back. Oh yeah. Squats and zerchers felt great. Could of gone higher but a little voice said “you’ve got to walk your route tomorrow”. More experimenting to come.
Edit: Not to offend anyone but what happen to moving all the T questions to another section? The only 2 stickied subjects are about low T and I’m sure some people under 35 want this info. Can’t find your guys threads for all of them. Sorry.

Deads, squats and Zerchers in the same day?? And at that weight? You’re an animal!
If I did any 2 of those in the same day I whine about for 3…and do.
Great work, hel! There’s A LOT of weight moving over here…

DCA has tried to lead that charge, but TNation has not been forthcoming. it seems like there is enough interest in HRT for it to have its own thread. I’d like the over 35 lifter to be more about lifters over 35.
Thanks all. Yeah Eco, I just kinda stumbled into it. I can feel the deads in my lower back after doing them but after the squats, all gone. Haven’t felt a bit of lower back DOMS since I started doing them this way. Also squating after the deads makes the squats feel lighter and really go easier. Zerchers after the squats feel even lighter. (Guess these are cheat zerchers cause I start from the up position).
Weight is weight so it’s all a mind game but it’s working. Mentioned it earlier but I was really amazed by the effect the old backwards belt had on my squats. It was like “did I put the right amount on”? Now if I can find a rack where I can put my hands against the collars I’ll be a happy man.
MJ, we may be stuck with the stigma of that’s all we talk about here. Might be a good thing and keep some out and the place civil.
Pete, thanks for stopping by. Been following your thread. You’re putting up some really big numbers.
Yesterday was all throwing and what I judge to be a 2000m swim. Would have gone straight to the gym from work tonight but the wife called me and said, “wait for me to go to the gym tonight. It’s shoulder night”. I love it when she talks dirty like that.
Steely, with a rope, with palms down, standing. Gotta offset the feet and lean back to counteract the weight. Usually use a lat pulldown station.
MJ, Like a hang clean but you go straight to overhead, ala snatch, with no stopping at the shoulders.
JW, we’ve been getting a lot of weather down here lately. Gettin off my route lookin like a wet dog the last few days.
Tried something different last night
DB bench
60,70,80,90 x 10
DB incline
50,60,70,80 x 10
flyes
25,30,35 x 10
Bw dip x 10 x 4
CGB
135wu
225 x 8 x 4
Tates
30,35,40,45 x 8
Tri pushdown (rope)
100,110,120 x max
Thought I’d use dbs to bench for a while. Haven’t done these in a long time and felt awkward at them.
Thanks bunny. Suppose to have one Sept 5 but haven’t heard from the organizer lately. Hopefully it’s still on.
Thursday was a throw and swim day
Last night was back and legs, I guess a light day
After work yesterday got in a quick shoulder and bicep workout. Out on the lake first thing this morning. This time in a boat. Number 3 brother got him a new boat, Stingray, so we had to go racin up and down the lake like a bunch of kids. Weather turned beautiful here and it was actually cool on the water early morning.
Stopped on a little island and cooked out. Got in a whole lot of swimming but none of it of the distance kind. Work tomorrow and hopefully better workouts than the last couple of days. Raiding the watermelon patch, on the other side of the cane. Wife caught me in the act.

Young fellow works at the gym was spotting me. Really good kid but his music sucks. The gym has a hook up where an ipod plays over the speakers. His was playing. I explained the effects of rock music on the neuromuscular junction. Then explain the superhuman effects of zydeco on the neuromuscular junction and sexual performance. He expressed doubt. Told him I would bring in a selection but to warn the female customers in advance to try and control their libidos.
Feeling good. Gonna try and really hit it this week.
