Glutamine or Peptide?

Can anyone tell me which would be a more effective supplement, L-glutamine or the peptide version? Why?

peptides are more absorbable (16X has been quoted) but are cost prohibitive and the cost outweighs the further benefit. you will do just fine with straight glutamine.

Thank you Erik! Finally someone on this forum with enough sense to realize that peptides are just as good as free form (when factoring in all the variables)…however, Im not even sure how much better absorbed peptides really are (if at all) and whether this makes a difference at all when supplementing.

do i smell a new study? i hope i do.

yeah but what about after the workout where time of absorption is key? I would think peptides are better. For slow absorption i guess free form is ok.

You see, I was almost positive that the peptides were much easier absorbed, but about being more expensive is not true. In fact, they are less money if 1 gram peptides = 1 gram L-glutamine. AR Nutrition, 1000 gr. peptide is $38.95 and we all no that pure L-glutamine runs about $29.95 for 454 grams. Just wanted to make sure because my nutrition background told me to by the peptide. Is this as good of a deal as I think?

no it isnt … you get what you pay for!

1000 grams of pure glutamine peptides for $38.95 is damn cheap. Thats 200 5 gram servings. Average of $0.039 per gram or $0.20 per serving. Are you sure? I’ll order also. The cheapest i had seen was $30 a pound or 455 grams.

I’ve been using Sports One GP-2 Glutamine Peptides. You can pick them up for $22.99 for a 1 lb (454g) container. It cost a little more than the AR ones, but at least it comes from a company that you’ve heard of.

rz, i just bought those peptides at nutripeak… just so you guys know, go check out kilosports. They are fairly reputable and they are selling a kilo (1000grams) for 40bucks, and L-glutamine for $40. Why are the peptides so cheap. I dont know.
