You know the one. It’s the firearm you want – have always wanted – but for whatever reason (price, practicality etc.) you never bought one.
I’ll go first. I’ve always like Western or cowboy single-action revolvers, but I also like modern, precision-made “tacti-cool” guns. Combine them both and you get the BFR – the Biggest Finest Revolver, part of the Kahr family.
It’s a handmade work of art. At $1400 (at least) it’s a big purchase, and not exactly concealed carry friendly. But still, look at it. Just look at it.
I’d go with a .357 or .44. They also make some giant models chambered for rifle calibers, but that’s a little too crazy for me.
BTW, these guns were featured in the movie Looper.
My background check for my $200 Chiappa Little Badger didn’t process on-the-spot this morning. This has given me time to contemplate picking up the Browning Citori he has in-stock, which has always been my dream gun.
I feel like I can talk myself into this because inflation is making my savings more worthless by the day, but a Browning Citori will probably never go down in value unless it is abused. It is also better to have a Browning Citori and not need one than to need a Browning Citori and not have one.
I got the all-clear call a few hours later on the background check, btw. Funny how that works. I’ve had one week-long hold, one several hour hold (today) and the rest were all instant.
After a lot of consideration, I went with my less arousing dream shotgun, but still a gun I’ve been wanting to buy for some time. A new-in-box 28" 12 gauge Remington Wingmaster that’s on-the-way. Real pics when it shows up.
I really, really want a Fowler Industries Vanta 9. Not going to happen any time soon for me as it’s just too costly for my needs and ability at this time. But perhaps some day.
On my deployment to Australia to train with the 5th RAR we had to qualify on AUG’s. Just my opinion, but they suck.
Of course, it didn’t help that they didn’t have any set up for lefties (have to switch the ejection port) so I had to qualify righty, but still - just a pretty clunky gun.
Mg42. My wet dream gun. Since ill probably never get it, id like to just shoot one someday.
Ive always wanted a stevens 520. The next one i find in decent shape is coming home with me. If you havent noticed im a sucker for a John Browning design.
I first read about this gun in Red Dragon, the novel that introduced us to Hannibal Lector and later became two movies (Manhunter and Red Dragon, the remake/prequel to Silence of the Lambs).
As I recall, the detective had a bad experience with his police (FBI?) issued .38 not stopping a bad guy, so he bought himself a Charter Arms Bulldog .44 special.
I’ve heard that too. Always liked the look though. And I admit, the first several guns I bought were “movie guns.” Beretta 92F, for example: Lethal Weapon and Die Hard.
