i know its a left field qustion, but to those glasses wearing lifters, has anything you’ve done bettered your eyesight? does the old carrots thing actually work?
LASIK? j/k!
My short-sightedness has stopped getting worse. Possibly from eating healthier?
Yeah, I find wearing my glasses helps me see MUCH better.

I’m with this one. Wearing them does eliminate the possibility of walking into walls.
No, my vision hasn’t improved with lifting. I’m pretty sure your eyeballs aren’t muscles. That would be cool though. If there is one surgury I would go for, it’s eye surgury. I think I’ll start a fund raiser.
I don’t really understand what you’re asking. It does suck when you get sweat all over your lens, though.
im just asking if theres anything i can do, short of shooting my eyes with lasers, to make my eyes suck less =p
and the whole carrot eating thing, which im thinking is bullshit.
Im in the same boat…im wearing these damn glasses (thanks for letting me see) all day

Ah… gotcha. The carrot thing is bullshit. Outside of that, I always hear great things about contacts, but I personally can’t stand anything directly touching my eye.
Carrots aren’t meant to improve eyesight necessarily. The vitamin A in them helps with night vision. At least that’s what I’ve been led to understand.

Not much but there are things your eye doctor can do with your prescription to help stabilize your eyes so they don’t get worse. Make sure you talk about this with him. I went through a couple eye doctors until I found one that did this.
Most just correct you to 20/20 and give you glasses but mine figured out which eye was working harder and then undercorrected that one. It forced my left eye to do more work and my eyes stopped getting worse.
Yep, glasses sure do suck. Not only are they inconvenient, but they are also chick repellent.
Come to think of it, people love to assume things about you when you wear glasses. They all assume that you: know how to fix computers, play Dungeons and Dragons, listen to Weird Al Yankovic, know a lot about the Middle Ages and/or the Renaissance, spend all your time indoors playing Warcraft, etc…
I also hate having to take my glasses off when I have to take my shirt off. So I always try to move the collar around my glasses, but wind up knocking them off my face anyways… Plus, I always forget where I put them and since I can’t see without them on, it will take me a half hour to find them. I sat on them once and broke the frame, my nephew picked them up and snapped the right arm off, and I dropped them once and broke the left arm off.
My glasses have glue and tape all over them, which makes me look even uglier than I already am. I hate these stupid glasses.
Sorry man, I can’t help you.
that’s funny skaz, I don’t get any of that. Then again, I also look like a biker and not a teacher…
acetyl-l-carnitine improves my vision.
i take about 150mg.

No way, skaz. Chicks always tell me I look super hawt and intellectual when I wear my glasses. I’m like Clark Kent…er…um…that doesn’t sound right…Clark Vader?
I get the librarian thing going on and I find I suddenly do know about dungeons and dragons. Since my degree is in history, I’ve also got knowledge of the renaissance covered as well.
I hate wearing contacts because my eyes are so dry they make a noise when I blink. However, I do wear them when I lift most times. It sucks being at the bottom of a squat and your glasses are heading for the tip of your nose due to sweat.

Check, check, check, check/check, nope, damn so close, I play Vanguard. I also work out 3 days a week and do 75+ miles a week on my bicycle.
Wearing glasses sucks but without them I wouldn’t be able to read the monitor in-front of me from much further then 8". They also suck in that yes they can get knocked off, sweat drips on them, they tend to get bent up by my motorcycle helmet.
I would love to get the surgery but it is going to be damn expensive and I already have a ton of bills to kill first.
My vision hasn’t gotten any better since starting weight lifting and eating better, but the eye doc says I have some of the healthiest eyes he’s seen.
That’s in response to the pressure test, blood flow, no signs of deteriation or any eye problems other than my astigmatism. I like to think that is a secondary benefit to the weight and interval work.
Also after my occipital bone reconstruction the inflamation do due the surgery went away very quickly. The muscles around the eye stayed strong, the eye never lost any tracking or movement range.
Both of which the surgeon was impressed with. I like to attribute this to fish oil supps and staying active taking my dogs to the park and light workouts.

Damn, sounds like you need some new glasses. Next time you go to the eye doc’s flirt with one of the gals, keep it light and fun, then let her dole out advice about which frames look best on you. It works for me, never has wearing glasses been a negative when picking up women.
I usually get the “Hey, you almost look smart with those on,” comment.

I tried that a few times before but the sales girl only wants me to buy the most expensive frames, that’s how I wound up with these 300 dollar frames that I hate. Every pair of glasses I have owned, I let someone else pick them for me, and I have always hated how I looked.
Next time I go pick out glasses, I am going to choose them myself.
Carrots help your vision because they have retinol in them. Retinol is required for the production of rhodopsin, a visual pigment in the retina.
As I understand it, rhodopsin depletion is also responsible for the phenomenon of “seeing spots” after looking at a light source.
Vitamin A will not correct the shape of your lenses or corneas. Only surgery can do that.
