Doesn’t sound like that to me at all - but I’d be happy for you to prove him wrong.
Try close stance squats with your feet 2 inches apart and let us know how that works for you, ok? :)
With the right flexibility, balance, and angle of your feet, squats with your feet 2" apart can definatley be done without hurting your knees. Just like any other squat.
And when he said 2" I didnt think it was realy 2" probably more like 4-6" and he was exaggerating. Because in all reality almost no one has the flexibility to do squats that close.
And because he didnt mention heels comeing off the ground I think HMMM.
Close stance
Knee’s being pushed out
Knee’s and shoulders were mentioned so it sounds deep
No mention of heels comeing off the groud, rounded backs or high squats, this sounds like a damn fine squat!
Also, I didnt say he was wrong, so next time you feel like creating a argument based on what you thought up in your head, keep it to your self.
I gave advice the other day, but it wasn’t “hey you’re doing that wrong” or “try this,” etc.
A kid (and his friend) approached my brother (training partner) and asked him if he knew if the gym had a “deadlift bar.” He looked at them very perplexed because he wasn’t sure what they were asking for. They said, “do you even know what a deadlift is?” He pointed to me (setting up for deadlifts), and said “That.” The two kids walked over to me and asked the same question. I looked at them perplexed and pointed to the barbell on the floor in front of me. They said “No, a deadlift bar, you know it’s diamond shaped you stand in it.” I then explained to them what that really was, a TRAP BAR. And I told them a few different exercises that can be done with one, but it isn’t called a “deadlift bar.”
hehe, then they sumo deadlifted (who taught them to sumo, and trap bar deadlift, but didn’t know what the traditional deadlift was, blows my mind.)

Great advice dude but incredibly ironic as… isn’t that exactly what you’re doing here yourself?
Today I was doing squats and decided to pause for a second in the bottom position, since that’s been a weakness of mine. So (I shit you not) I had some guy staring at me. Not the “looking at the weight I’m moving”, but staring. After a couple of sets, he comes up and says “Excuse me?” I take out my earphones and he than says “You know those would be harder if you didn’t stop and rest at the bottom each time.” (Me) “Uuuhhh . . .” (Him) “Have you ever heard about something called time under tension?” “Yeah, but, I have to do my next set now.” Earphones in.
Funny thing is I’ve had someone else tell me the same thing at this gym before.
So if you feel the need to give advice, make sure you know what the hell you’re talking about.
Back when I was in the bicep and chest obsession phase a guy gave me advice on my bench press and I accepted gladly. Now if someone were to give me advice I would be leaery unless he obviously knew what he was doing, which a lot of people that I see working out don’t.
Using this I also wouldn’t give advice to someone else unless they were going to kill themselves.
The worst occasion I have had with this is when a guy is spotting me when I am doing a PR bench. After I rack it he says that I am “strong as an ox”, so the next day I see him benching and I try and do the nice thing and correct his form because I think he may at least listen to me after what happened the day before…not a chance. No retracted shoulder blades, no arch, etc. I wish I could get my 5 minutes back.

I said, “it sounds like” when I was talking to the original guy, and I didnt create a argument, I stated a observation that could easily be corrected.
Not,
I dont think it sounds that way, but I would like to see you prove him wrong.
Try squating with your feet 2" apart and see how your knee’s feel :)
That quote is not a observation, it is him saying I said something I didnt and then telling me to do something that he thinks would hurt my knees. Followed with a annoying
EDIT: Wait a second here, I posted a observation from something someone else wrote and you are saying that I made the observation up in my head?
your right, that story I made a observation on, dosent exist. It never did, I made it up in my head…
I’ve only corrected a few people, and only when they’re going to seriously fuck themselves up.
Normally it’s some guy that’s deadlifting with a back bowing so much that it gives me the impression that I could personally be injured by his vertebrae shooting out of his ass when his back snaps in two.
