Girlfriend Refuses to Lift Weight

You should be happy she doesn’t like weight training. IMO, the more muscular a woman gets the less attractive she becomes. Crossfit would be alright (mostly conditioning work anyways), but you can be sure that Adriana Lima doesn’t go anywhere near heavy weights.

She feels the same way you would feel if she was on your ass trying to get you to “firm up” by doing Yoglates or Spinning Classes.

You don’t think they’ll work for you, but she believes they will, plus you’re offended that she desperately wants your body to change.

How old are you? You need to learn to be able to put yourself in someone else’s shoes. Especially a lover/significant other.

Most people know what is best for themselves. Be her lover, not her daddy.

+1,you cant force a g/f to do something they don’t want to, even if what they are doing is wrong, esp. with all the pressure nowadays on women to look a certain way. Let her do her thing. if she doesnt get results from what she’s doing after a while, she’ll ask you again.

maybe she doesn’t want more more muscle than you

she seems to have a decent body already, so while I can understand your frustration, it’s not like she’s a cow that needs it badly, give her time.

I agree that she’s already hot, first of all.

Secondly, I know quite a few hot women who would never lift a weight. She can achieve what she wants with things like kickboxing, it’s just going to take longer.

That’s what really got me hooked on lifting, I can cut my workout time in half and still look the way I want to. I can also eat more than I use to, which for me is a huge plus.

Just cleaning up her diet will make a big difference though, so let her do that for awhile and see where it gets her. If she gets stuck, then you can offer some advice.

Move to Afghanastan. Then she has to do what you tell her. Them’s the rules.

It usually depends on the level of muscularity somebody is referring to. If it’s female IFBB Pro level, I’m not really into that, but if it is figure competitor level on the offseason I think it’s sexy as hell.

I’d go for the advice of showing her pictures of figure competitors, along with telling her that she won’t loose mobility or get bulky by accident, or that kickboxing alone won’t build her ideal physique; that’s another thing to think, what’s her ideal physique? she want to loose fat and build some muscle, but what does she wanna look like? My ex girlfriend lifted weights with me, she even started before, and I can tell you the butt and the legs from weight training women can get very very pleasing to the eye.

or… you could just put up more magazine pics of other hot females who lift… that should show her.

(see SAMA forum for the joke)

Don’t push this shit on her. You’ve got a hot girlfriend who you seem very happy with. Stop trying to make her perfect and enjoy what you’ve got.

Maybe you should try the kickboxing class to see what it’s really all about. It might suprise you.

Either get a new girlfriend who likes to lift weights or accept that your gf doesn’t want to lift. Pretty simple.
I completely agree. You can’t change someone. People have to decide that they want change. If it’s a big deal to you then you need to consider finding a different girl. And don’t listen to any of that “you should love me for me” bullshit. We all change, mold, and compromise to be in a monogamous relationship. Hopefully you can find someone that inspires you so that your change is one that you see as a positive and you can do the same for her.

If your girl inspires you to want to be a better person and a better lover, etc… then you make all kinds of changes for her.

If she feels the same way then she’ll do the same but it has to come from within her. If it doesn’t then there is nothing you can do to alter that. Accept it and keep her or accept it and move on, but accept it. People are what they are, real change is rare.

Next time she asks you, “Do these jeans make me look fat?” tell her “Baby, it’s not the jeans that make you look fat, it’s the fat that makes you look fat.” She’ll be pumpin’ iron like nobody’s business…

HAHA!

Some of the things said here are true and I will take them to heart, but to the rest of you (esp. mr popular): way to make me look like a controlling freak. You’re blowing shit out of proportion. Stop pretending like you know what’s going on.

That being said, [/thread].
Thank you for your help ONCE AGAIN guys! (this includes women too… guys was meant as a reference to a group of people… ugh, i’ll stop typing now)

Adriana Lima has a flabby, quivering ass, no legs, no waist, bony arms, has virtually no waist, and is pretty much a pretty face (the wonders of youth) and some boobage that will sag the moment she stops her bulimia, all that on top her body which is just a giant cankle from the neck down.

You are living proof that the definition of beauty changes from person to person. But whatever tickles your pickle dude.

I’d rather like an athletic woman with real legs, real hips, nice waist, and a real, non-gelatinous saggy ass, a total package I know will look good even when over her 40’s over a featureless flat bench on a bikini that will lose the battle against time before she turns 40 anytime.

Lifting would make more dramatic changes to the body than cardio.

Idk what the hell are you talking about. EVERYONE knows that cardio (esp. interval running) will do MUCH more than pushing iron!
Yay, another absolute rule of fitness!

What do you mean by “MUCH more”? Much more of what? Fat loss? Lean mass gains?

So if I primarily do interval running I will get bigger legs than, say, pumping iron with the leg press?

If I run 30 minutes everyday despite the fact that I don’t have much muscle mass to begin with (but a large body fat %), I will get better, SUSTAINABLE fat loss (without increasing my lean mass % and thus increasing my caloric needs) than, say, a good weight training program?

BTW, those two were rhetorical questions.

Yip, we might have to duke it out Mac. lol what happened to your old avatar?

Anywho, let her do her own thing. Cardio kickboxing (as I’m sure that’s what she does) and spinning are quite possibly the most catabolic activities I’ve ever experienced. Let her do her own thing and merely tutor her on proper dietary habits. As long as she isn’t fucking up your training its all good in the 'hood IMO.

Guess we just disagree. That chick in the pink looks like a dude with a wig. Muscular arms, flat chests, and broad shoulders just aren’t a turn-on for me…

I’ve never seen a dude with a wig with a butt like that. But then again, I’ve never seen a dude with a wig.

Plus, if you think she looks like a dude just because she has muscles, I wonder if you have ever seen a muscular dude to begin with

muscle =/= dude
