Huh how odd…makes me dislike this area even more. Well if you have a gym membership you may be able to bring in guests for free, I found out just the other day that I could!
push-ups
sit-ups
uphill sprints
band exercises
are all good exercises that can be done without equipment. There are several articles that have been posted about body weight exercises that could help as well.
I would say that a gym membership is pretty much needed though as it’s getting very cold up here now so working out outside is going to be rough.

Heck, he may as well throw in a membership to Jenny Craig and some extra large fatpants too. And an inflatable doll for himself, cause he sure wouldnt be getting any anytime soon with that present (unless you can somehow get her to suggest it first, hmm?)
Hehe, maybe not a great contribution to the topic, but I just couldnt let that potential trainwreck slide…even if she wants to get in better shape, christmas present fat implication just isnt worth the risk. But the other ideas suggested were good!

No gym? Uhh, that must be why we beat them in football earlier this year (Appalachian State) ;)[/quote]
That was Michigan not Michigan State. I’m surprised that Michigan state doesn’t have a gym though being a large D-1 school. I go to a small d-1 school and we have a state of the art brand new gym…where do the athletes train?

most athletes don’t lift in the general population weight rooms at the schools I’m familiar with.
my school has 5 on campus weightrooms. 2 for general public, 1 football, one men’s basket ball, and one for all other sports.

The first sentence in the OP’s post was “My g/f wants to get into better shape,…”
I stand by my first proposal.
Or you can buy weights for home. For her, some of those adjustable dumbbells and an adjustable bench would work. Bench, Row, DB deads and squats, DB cleans and snatches, lunges, shoulder presses, and buy a chinup bar. (But for what it is worth a gym membership may be cheaper)

This is still a good idea. She asked for help. He didn’t offer help. Do college kids not work any more? A 20 hr/week job could easily pay for a membership. Yes, it is possible (pat my own back). I worked 30+ hrs/week while having a 12-16 hr workload.
