Those deads looked great. Nice work.
you just might be able to pick me up off the floor if we were in a burning building…
Great work and Enjoy that steak…sounds nom nom!
“at maximum bad girl” haha

Yes
Woot! Killer workout Kim, as always.
That’s one hell of a DL PR.
+3 reps is outstanding.
Good call on the belt setting. It’s not unusual to need to have the belt looser on deads for the very reason you describe.
Another good call to do a static hold on the bad-girl machine too. It’s easy to use momentum to get the weight up/knees out, but to hold it there at max contraction is harder and really mimics what happens in a squat.
DL pr, military and pullups all in one work out. That’s a killer. You deserve to feast tonight.
Form is looking really good kimba! and I love the tri/shoulder/trap definition

Further evidence that I’m the ugly stepsister.

So not true.
Congrats on the PR, that pull looked really good.
For those who might feel that this log lacks cake despite its title, please gaze upon the single largest piece of chocolate cake that I’ve ever seen. My friend’s hand is provided for scale.
giterdone, although I appreciate the sentiment, that Snapper is gonna get you for that. O too.
Cal, that may be true but I’m not advancing on military presses really at all. So any lead you have on me is quite safe.
N. and Betty, I ate pretty well last night at the steakhouse. I demolished my 10 oz. filet dipped in some bearnaise sauce and a huge mixed green salad. A few bites of mac n’ cheese and onion rings (both “good” but not stellar enough to wolf down) and a carved off piece of the above-pictured chocolate cake. Honestly, though, the highlight of the meal was the Cherry Manhattan. Apparently, I must have really, REALLY needed a drink!
Jack, thanks for stopping by. My husband recently asked how I learned to deadlift, and I told him the truth: from the virtual coaching by the peeps here.
Bobbi, I strive for being both very good and very bad at the same time.
Thanks Nikki. Its always great to hope for 5 reps and get 6 instead!
DCA, I had been stubbornly squeezing the belt on thinking that was the best way to use it. But finally I realized that something had to change or the belt was a waste of money. As for the good girl/bad girl machine, I’m not yet completely convinced its helping. But because that machine is in the cardio section of the gym, in which I rarely tread, I haven’t been regular enough about this experiment to really tell.
Nadia, the MP in the same workout as deads isn’t optimum for the MPs but that is what fits in my schedule. When I can do MPs on their own day, I get much better results on them.
Soldog, thanks for the kind words. I must admit, I really love my arms. It always surprises me to see actual shoulders since I spent 40 or so years without any.
Snap and Frenchie, git is going to have to flirt extra hard with you guys to get back on your good sides. ![]()
Joe, thanks. It was 5’s week, so I’m hoping the next 2 weeks will also be good.
In order to train tonight, I have to finish a project today. Nose, meet grindstone.
You can drown in that cake! Feed a third world country…
but the question is, really, was it good?

I am a harsh, harsh critic of baked goods. Especially baked goods in the US, which I often find much too sweet as compared to a more European style.
On that demanding scale, this cake was a B+. Moist, chocolatey, good buttercream frosting. But not the best-tasting cake that I’ve ever had.
Thanks for that pic Kim, geez, y’know I can’t eat it ![]()
I thought that you were sweet enough, no cakes necessary in the log
cue the awwwws ;D

As with any generality, there are always exceptions that are…exceptional.
OMG…the cake!!! It made me almost forget why I was posting!! ![]()
Oh yeah…now I remember!!!
Awesome deadlifts, Kimba!!!
god bless that cake and the person who made it.
stopping by to report that Al Caslow said weights behind the head are much harder than on the chest when it comes to hypers. And Jason. And Wendler.
