what a view!!!
That must have been scary for your mom. No matter how old we are, we still depend on our mothers.
You’re a fat ass. Lose the muffin top. I’m up a pound or two myself and thinking about how to deal with them besides ingesting left over halloween candy.
Up 2.5 lbs.? How many more to go until you hit triple digits?
I hope your mom gets better, strokes are scary whether they are mild or not.

x2 I’m glad to hear it was mild after all that worry.
I need more proof that you bike than that Kim.
Something like you in short biker shorts, on top of the bike, with a pic taken from the rear… yes, that’ll do perfectly ![]()
Plucky, you have discerning taste. That is one of my favorite views of San Francisco.
O., I’m down a pound already due mainly to there not being any Halloween candy in this house. I’m a big fan of Nestle’s Crunch and the Three Musketeers ones. Oh, and peppermint patties. Love, love, love.
Jack, I am in the triple digits. Silly boy. ![]()
O, Jack, & Joe, strokes are scary…one minute someone is fine and the next, they’re down. Makes one really want to hit old age in great physical shape.
Nikki, I like the way you think! Bike shorts, though, give me diaper ass. Yoga pants is a better look, trust me on this one.
Today’s training was pussy-weight squats, lame bench (which sucked since I was still sore from those 80 pushups on Monday), some random arm work and planks. Trust me, it isn’t worth sharing.
My discovery of the day is that low-sodium cottage cheese is nasty. I didn’t know that regular cottage cheese was loaded up with salt to make it tasty and when I found out, I thought I’d try to be good and bought this shit. Not even a tablespoon of almond butter could save it.
1.5 lbs to go. Odds are it will be gone by week’s end.
Sorry about your Mother…
With that view, I’d do all that biking too! Was that on your trip? Hope things settle a bit…
Don’t even get me started on Halloween Candy…I’ve already snuck half of it out of the house between the two kids. It doesn’t tempt me in the slightest, but it turns kids into ebil demons…its not worth it!
I’m glad your mother is doing better! Nice bike outfit!
would have been a lot more powerful if the link worked.
google search “ted tv my stroke”

everyone.
its worth it. [/quote]

Whatever’s tight on your body babes, I don’t discriminate ![]()
Really sorry about your mom, which is why it’s smart for you to take control and continue being the strong beast that you are.
I think low-sodium a lot of things are nasty. I really hate low-sodium ketchup… ugh.
exercising and sweating on a regular basis allows the body to get rid of that salt. so eat up and enjoy!
at least that is what I tell myself
I’m glad that your mom’s stroke was minor. My dad didn’t fare so well when he had his five years ago. Four months in the hospital. Permanently disabled. Actually, his experience was a huge motivator behind me starting to train seriously and with passion.
Anyway. Sorry to hear today’s workout was not so super. We all have those days . . .
Ooooo sorry to hear about your Mom.
lots of pushups = sore lats
all this talk of mipples and bike shorts- what goes on in here
Low sodium is nasty (except for butter. I always had unsalted butter as a kid so I can’t eat anything else now). I am not keen on low fat either, with the exception of the milk I have in my tea, which has to be skimmed. I remember once buying a tub of B&Js Cherry Garcia yogurt by mistake and thinking “God what is this crap?!!!” when I tasted it.
JEEZ-US! I am having the worst mom-luck this week. Now my mother in law is in the hospital with a bowel obstruction. At least this hospital has wireless so that you’all can entertain me while I sit with her as we wait out whether surgery is necessary. She is 86, so here’s hoping that won’t be necessary.
Betty, that view is indeed from my trip. The great part about climbing up a mountain on a bicycle is the view plus the thrill of going down.
Thanks, Greeney. I know you know what having a sick mom is all about.
CBear, thanks for the video link. I’ll watch it as soon as I can un-mute my laptop.
Nikki, anytime I’m in a hospital it makes me doubly/triply resolved to make fitness and health my number one priority. Granted, disease can strike anyone. But so few people take ownership of their own bodily health. A lifetime of sitting on one’s ass and eating crap WILL come back to bite and evidence of that is currently all around me.
George, I hope you are right about the salt not being an issue. It had never occurred to me that some of the foods I eat regularly (notably smoked salmon and cottage cheese) were so high in sodium. I had thought that was only a concern with “processed” foods which I generally don’t eat. Interestingly, my husband is a “salt emitter” when exercising. His bike gloves are white with salt after a hot, sweaty long ride.
Snap, that is a rough situation with your dad. I feel very lucky with my mom’s outcome so far. But I TOTALLY AGREE as to the extra motivation to do everything possible to be in top physical condition. I actually did have fun in yesterday’s training…lots of volume with low weight just doesn’t make for an interesting log.
kmc, I strive for variety as to topic in this log.
My lats are STILL a little sore and its three days later after the pushup-fest.
Cal, I always had unsalted butter as a kid too and can’t stand the salted butter. However, whole milk just tastes too thick for me. I’m a 2% gal. The rest of this low-sodium cottage cheese is history…I’m buying the real stuff.
wow… super scary about your mom. really glad to hear she’s ok.
and hope the same for ur mil. sending good thoughts her way.
Thats rough Kimba, sorry to hear about so many family health issues.
This should make you laugh. I was told this morning that if I get more muscular I will be “icky” which is funny considering I am not remotely muscular.

One of the post docs here I am friendly with. She’s just a kid so you have to expect that sort of thing.
