Girl With the Most Cake

Congrats on all the PRs! Way to stay on track while vacationing.

WHAT?!? You added 25 lbs to your dips?.. and got a rep PR?

Sweeeeettt.

Great work in here Kim.

That’s a hell of a dip. That’s probably one of the reasons that you’re so comfortable with such a close bench grip. You have super strong triceps.

i love your vacation.

Is there an echo in here?

You are a rock star in the dip department. An absolute rock star.

And did you raid my closet for those workout clothes? They look just like mine!

Dog, thanks for explaining what happened on that third rep. I knew I almost lost it, but didn’t know why.

Plucky and Nikki, thanks!

O, after my day benching today I realize that I am very confused about a basic question. Perhaps you and/or Snapper can help. Where on an A-cup chest should the bar hit when benching? On the nipple? Lower boob? Upper boob? Or below the boob?

Inquiring minds need to know.

of course the dip queen had to go and kick my ass  plus your form was way better than mine. I grinded those out like a bad b-rated movie.

Off the top of my head I can’t recall where the bar hits my chest. Of course I will need to check it out next gym session.

Great stuff on the dips, love seeing weighted dips going on :). I am a fan!!!

I’m thinkin nipples…

Not sure, just wanted to say it,

On my training course, I was told that the bar should hit the nipple line. I guess this applies to guys and A-cups. It might be different for big busted women, but as a rule, centre line of the chest.

I was always taught that you want the bar to be at the nipple line too…

I haven’t read through to see if anyone else answered. Typically when we bench, we try to hit the xyphoid process. That’s the little piece of cartilage between the top of your ribs on your diaphragm. (I only remember the name from CPR courses). It is definately below the breast but right at the top of the rib cage. Feel with your fingers on your breast bone where your ribs meet just below the breast. Try to consistently touch there. With the bar. Not your fingers

i like nipples.

no help with bench, just putting that out there.

Kimba: Seeing as how I’m a D cup, I don’t really feel qualified to answer your benching question.

Xyphoid process is exactly what my coach tells me. Which is right about the nips.

x2 I always try to hit the xyphoid process each rep.

I love all the nipples in here. Thanks!

Vacation ended on an unexpected note when, just a half-hour before we were leaving for the airport on Sunday morning, I said good morning to my mother and noticed she was slurring her speech and one side of her mouth was drooping.

Uh-oh.

Luckily the stroke was minor, and she is back home to her normal self after two days in the hospital and a shit-ton of blood-thinner meds. But that was a day longer in CA than I had originally planned, so its crazytown around here today.

Yesterday’s training before sitting on a plane for 5.5 hours was a tabata-style interval of 10 pushups/20 air squats x 8 with 20 seconds rest. I was wondering why my lats were kind of sore today, and I think the 80 total pushups got me. I really need to train pushups more.

After 9 days of eating high-carb food at above-maintenance caloric levels, the scale this morning was not a pretty sight at 2.5 lbs up. Yet my Hudsons still fit. I have no idea where the extra lbs. went, but I’m not comfortable with them hanging around. I suspect after a week of normal clean eating, they’ll be gone.

Glad your mom is OK. That must have been scary!

Ya know, the 2.5 lbs might be muscle gain. Unless you have a disgusting muffin top spilling over your jeans maybe you don’t need to diet it off? If you can’t see it in the mirror it might be back or ass muscle…that’s a good thing!

I say throw caution to the wind and reset you scale expectation 2.5lbs higher.

edit: I’m a broken record, I know.

Crap, sorry to hear that. Glad it was a minor stroke. My mum’s stroke really did a number on her. Nearly killed her and left her disabled and unable to speak. Strokes are not to be taken lightly. I’m glad your mum is back to normal but keep an eye on her. Do they know what caused it? (Was it a bleed or a clot? I’m guessing clot if she’s on thinners). In my mum’s case, she had a leaky heart valve which caused a clot. Might be worth having her heart checked out if that’s the case. It’s scary shit.
And don’t worry about the weight. Likelihood is it’s water and glycogen.

sorry to hear about your mum Kimba - glad to know she’s doing better. I would have freaked in your shoes.

2.5lbs - I’m so not worried for you. I’d say like Git to just go with it but I bet ya by the end of next week you’ll be below weight. again.

giterdone, you would have disappointed me if you called me a fatass and told me to get on the treadmill. No muffin top…perhaps back or arm muscle? Maybe a bit on the thighs of either muscle or padding.

Cal, I saw the MRI with my own eyes…two very small clot spots. Not good, but it could’ve been a whole lot worse – as well you know.

N., I am not a freaker-outer. Emergencies are my specialty. And I certainly hope you are right about the weight. I can be very stubborn about some stuff.

No training today. Back at it tomorrow.
