Girl With the Most Cake

N., drive four hours south and I’ll help you out with that.

Joe, in my world Alabama IS down South. How much south-er is there?

Sunday AM training was an exercise in figuring out how to make a deload day not suck.

5/3/1 Wave 9, Week 4 - Squat and Bench deload day

Squats – as low as I can

48# 1 x 5
60# 1 x 5
72# 1 x 5
All of this was easy so I tried to work on consciously pushing my knees out and sitting back.

Squats - band around knees
65# 3 x 5

Got braver and put weight on the bar. I have to take a wider than normal stance to get the band to stay up.

Box squats to 5 risers plus step
65# 3 x 10

Working hard on sitting back, bringing my hips forward to get out of the hole, and keeping my back tighter. My glute-ham tie in was BURNING at the end of these sets, so I think I’m doing something right.

Bench Press deload
45# 2 x 5
51# 1 x 5

ho hum.

Bulgarian split squats
15s 3 x 10 each leg

supersetted with
DB Chest Press, alternating arms
15s 3 x 10

Cable hip adduction/abduction
12.5# 2 x 10 each leg

Once again, trying to work on weak hips and knee cave. Probably my favorite part of this training was lying out in the sun waiting for my husband to finish his workout.

Then a 1.5 hour bicycle ride.

I love the way you just add a 90 minute bike ride as an afterthought.

To me that is a short ride. In years past, every summer there would be at least one 100 mile ride, or 75-80 at least. Getting away from that now. My knees are thanking me.

I thought biking wasn’t too hard on the knee - not the case?

Oh that’s smart, doing squats with a band on your knees.

Sounds like you hit those glutes to me.
I love the DOMS the next day; burning quads and sore ass. It makes me just want to stand perfectly still all day.

Hill climbs, of the extreme variety, did in my left ITB.

Nikki, I was sitting all day today and my ass reminded me that I had worked it. All good!

I love just being in the sun.

Joe, sun worshippers unite! Today is a beautiful summery day. Like a bonus for me, who is mourning the end of a spectacular summer. One more outing (probably the last) for the short shorts.

5/3/1 Off the Reservation Day

Undulating ropes and TRX training in the warm sun. Leaving me pleasantly tired and a bit sore. A fine end to a deload week.

I would like to make like a lizard and soak up more rays, but work calls me. Alas.

no short-shorts? :frowning:

i too am mourning the end of summer…deep sigh…

nice deloading. enjoy the weekend!

Just a gratuitous shot of my chicken and waffles with pepper infused maple syrup. Can’t run a log without pictures.

Maschy, I’ve already shown the short shorts! Can’t be repetitious.

Holy jumpins that looks tasty!

Hmmm…no shorts. How about lingerie? I vote for deadlifts. Sorry, I can’t help it

Yes but we’ve not seen a pic of you in short shorts holding a plate of chicken and waffles yet.

Luckily I will get to wear short until around Thanksgiving.

deadlifts in lingerie?

Or squats. I’m not fussy.

This idea is intriguing, in the can’t-look-away-from-a-trainwreck sort of way. I do have an oly bar and plates in my bedroom…

Yes, yes it is. If she says she has a stripper pole in there too then she is going to have to win some kind of prize.
