Friday night training was mostly deload. It should’ve been ALL deload but I wanted to try my luck at my missed 3rd week MP day. Bad choice.

5/3/1 - Wave 9, Week 4 – Sumo Deadlift Deload

Military press (week 3)
52.5# 1 x 5
59.5# 1 x 3 <–felt heavy, lots of DOMS in my right biceps from Wed.
66.5# 1 x 0 <–money set failure. I got it about 1/2 way up

I’ll repeat the same MP weight for wave 10 and kill this next month under better circumstances.

Sumo Deadlift
from risers
75# 1 x 5
from floor 25# plate:
95# 1 x 5
from floor 35# plate:
115# 1 x 5

Deficit deads are always a challenge for me. On the last set, my hips came up too quickly.

Good girl/bad girl machine
Abductor with 3 sec. pause at max. bad girl position
110# 3 x 10

Left side is still weaker. I’ll be experimenting with this machine for a few weeks to see if I think it has any value for my knee cave issue.

DB Snatch
32.5# DB 1 x 3 R, 1 x 2 L <–PR +2.5 lbs.

Although this was a PR, I was super mad at myself for letting the weight get into my head causing me to miss a few reps at the top. I need to be more aggressive at “throwing” the weight up, but I pussed out. Hate that.

Not a bad training for a boring deload day. I’ll be focusing on accessory work to address my weak hips/knee cave issues for the next while.

Also, 110 on the abductor is incredible! I can only do 90 without getting some kind of butt twitch. And over 30lbs on the snatch is also awesome! You’re beating me…I’ll have to step up my game grumble grumble

Good girl/bad girl machine? That’s probably the one we refer to as the FuckMaster 3000. I seem to recall giving Pete and Fischer some shit about that machine a while back.

O, I’m pushing my knees out against the pads which are sitting on my outer thighs. Then I’m holding this “fuck me” position for a few seconds before finishing the rep. I figure that the seated but knees out position relates to the bottom of the squat where I have my knee cave troubles, so maybe this machine can be helpful with that.

Joe, I have a ways to go before I’ll feel confident throwing that DB overhead. It still kind of scares me, but don’t tell anyone my wussy little secret.

Today’s training was a four hour plus bike ride which included a stop for chicken and waffles with pepper infused real maple syrup. I have never had chicken and waffles before and now I want it every day.
