Girl With the Most Cake

Yes, of course. Multiply by 2.2.

But I find it easier to double the weight and add 10% when figuring the number quickly in my head. Just the way my math mind works, I suppose.

Delicious belt pic. You are so super hot Kimba!

Have a safe trip and lots of fun too!!

Not a dream. That picture is buried in my last log.

Well, giterdone. I’m not exactly sure what you and DCA mean but I might have some idea. Bummer.

Yay for hot pic.
And I agree, bummer.
Yay for hot pic, indeed.
Hey everybody! I’m back from a fabulous nine days in Amsterdam and Belgium. Its kind of sad to be back to the old grind, but it is what it is.

While in Amsterdam, we found a great gym with a squat rack, lots of benches, big-ass dumbbells and every machine (Smith, HS-esque) in the book. Basically I kept my normal lifting schedule, which was just super. Granted, this cost 20 euro for each of the three days I used the gym but I got so much entertainment out of working out in a Dutch gym that it was totally worth it.

I learned that gym rats are the same the world over. Curling in the squat rack guy, its-all-you guy and posing in the mirror guy were all present and accounted for.

Unfortunately, I never had time to try out the co-ed sauna where no clothing other than towels were allowed.

I credit the lifting, plus lots of bicycle riding and walking, with my getting on the scale this AM and being half a pound down from my target weight. This is despite the cafe lattes, Dutch pancakes, appelgebak, belgian fries with mayo, mussels-in-Brussels, delicious bread, Belgian chocolate, Belgian Liege style waffles, gelato and a few beers along the way that I consumed. I did try to eat the way I normally do whenever it was possible, not to be a martyr or anything but because I was craving lean protein and vegetables IN THE WORST WAY. For example, for dinner on Saturday night I chose some grilled tuna on a big salad over delicious cheese fondue because I just had to have the greens and the fish. A couple of nights, I choose the chicken and vegetable stir fry over the hamburger and fries for the same reason.

For completeness sake, here are the Amsterdam trainings. If you’d rather not read through all of this, just skip to the next post which will be a bikini shot from the hotel pool.

8/15/10 - 5/3/1 Wave 8, Week 4 - Squat and Bench Deload Day

Free squats as low as I could get
Bar 1 x 5

Bench Press

DB Snatch
22# dumbell 3 x 5 each side

I was proud of these! Next up is my 12 kg kettlebell.

Dips
BW 3 x 10

The older Dutch dude on the next machine looked over at me and said in English “That was good” after one of these sets. Nice commentary is always appreciated!

Decline sits on a really steep decline
BW 1 x 15
1 kg medicine ball held overhead 1 x 20

Back raises
10kg (22 lb.) plate behind head 1 x 10

Rehab stuff

8/19/10 - 5/3/1 Wave 8, Week 4 - Sumo Deadlift and MP Deload Day

149# 1 x 5

Military Press
Bar 2 x 5
50.5# 1 x 5

Kroc Rows
49.6# 1 x 5 ← PR, the heaviest DB I’d previously rowed was a 45 lb. This was quite by accident since my kg to lb conversions were lousy and I had no idea how much a 22.5 kg dumbbell really weighed.

39.6# 2 x 10

Chinups
3 x 3 Weak.

Back raises
15 kg. plate behind head 1 x 10 <–this plate was too big and unwieldy for my head and neck
10 kg. plate behind head 1 x 10

Rehab Stuff

Squats
78# 1 x 5
89# 1 x 5
111# 1 x 3 <–money set was disappointing in pathetic number of reps, cheated depth and massive knee cave.

Box squats to bench (3 sec. pause)
89# 5 x 10

Because my money set was so crappy, I thought I’d torture myself a little bit with high volume box squats.

Bench Press
Bar 1 x 5
56# 1 x 5
67# 1 x 5
78# 1 x 5 <–money set, I am happy with this although not a PR

Rope Triceps Pressdown
22# 2 x 10

supersetted with
Face Pulls
22# 2 x 10

Dips
BW 2 x 10

Decline situps
4 kg. medicine ball held overhead 1 x 15

Not a bad set of trainings for a vacation.

I didn’t go to Amsterdam to lay in the sun in my bikini, but we had to do something while we waited for our room to be ready…

LMAO @ “If you’d rather not read through all of this, just skip to the next post which will be a bikini shot from the hotel pool.” I <3 the pic, you get hotter and hotter. Which seems damn near impossible.

Very nice deload. Impressive bench, dips, chins… everything really.
I’m sick of everyone’s deloads outshining my regular work

Congrats ont eh PR, you know you are big time when you PR on vacations.

Oh and nice pic.

That’s a nice pendant.

Yup.

That’s awesome you were able to keep up your workouts! I think it’s hilarious you STILL got commentary! Pretty cool! You look hot in that bikini! Glad you had fun and were able to splurge on food in moderation.

There was some guy yesterday who was doing neck lifts (?) with a 25 lb plate. He was laying on a flat bench, holding the plate to his forehead and then bending his neck so his chin was to his chest.

Welcome home. I’m glad you are back.

Not only are you the only person I know that excitedly works out while on vacation, but you continuously kill each session and look damn fine while doing it. I’m amazed and inspired by you Ms. Kimba, that’s for sure.

Great work on the Krocs! You’ve blown me out of the water with those.

Lol @ the international gym rats!

And if I may, you look gorgeous in that black bikini.

Welcome home! I’ve missed you…

Ps. Yeah Nikki, these ladies deload with gusto - makes my deloads look like 3-day cruise for retirees.

snatch PR was probably fueled by all the goodies:) Now what did you do out there apart from working out and eating??

yummy pick

Nikki, thanks for the kind words. That is a smokin’ avi you’ve got goin’ on there.

Joe, it was an accidental PR. But I’ll take it! It was a comedy show, me trying to convert the kg. plates into lbs. My math skills are weak at best.

DCA, I like that you appreciate my taste in jewelry.

Greeney, I also thought it was hilarious that I got some Dutch commentary. I was SO not expecting it since this gym seemed to attract the gay male population. For most of my time there I was downright invisible. The neck lift guy mystifies me. Why would anyone want a thicker neck?

Snap, thanks for the welcome. The jet lag is starting to really hit me, and I’m struggling to stay awake until a somewhat normal bedtime.

Maschy, yes indeed you may comment on the bikini. I am very amused by its ability to untie all its parts. I went after the deload a bit harder than usual because…well, I was paying lots of money to be there and wanted my money’s worth!

N., there were carbs, carbs and more carbs fueling the snatches. Besides drink and eat and ride around and walk around and get lost walking and biking around and then working out…um, not much. All of that takes a surprisingly long time. We are not museum folks. All the times I’ve been to Amsterdam and I’ve never been to the van Gogh museum nor the Anne Frank House. The sex museum and the hemp museum, however, yep.

sex museum FTW lol. I pretty much did the same while in Paris. Basically found something good to eat on every street. Any fun pics of the touristy stuff to wet my palate? Not that the bikini shot is not enticing in it’s own…

LOL at the sex museum. Only in Amsterdam!

When in Paris I think I stopped at every crepe cart I saw. Thank goodness we were only there a couple of days.

So, did you get in a tussle?

I love Amsterdam - I used to be in the “Friends of Amsterdam” society when I was at uni. No prizes for guessing what went on there.
And girl, you have no fat on you, do you! I mean, none. Damn.

A thick neck is helpful for sports where you have to wear a helmet and it helps deal with head impact better.

I admit…I skipped to the hot bikini pic.

Glad to have you back, and glad you had a great time!!
