Is it possible that one can gain fat from eating too little? My weight is 105 kilo’s with about 16% bf. I workout 4 times a week. Gaining muscle is easy for me (naturally), but loosing it is very difficult. I only eat 2000-2500 calories a day in a typical high protein, low carb and low fat diet. What seems to be the problem, as i gain weight from almost looking at food…
Long term if you eat too little your body will eventually adapt so “too little” will become the caloric intake that maintains your weight and what should be a normal intake will cause an increase in adipose. This is not an uncommon occurance at all.
You may have hypothyroidism, poor insulin sensitivity, or what I used to have… metabolic slowdown. In other words, I have been living off 1700 calories or less for a while, which I thought was okay. Then I put my balls on the line and went to 3000 calories. I got pretty big, I put on 40 lbs. in a couple of months, everyone thought I was juicing. I did get fat though which almost seemed to go away with no effort putting me back to 16% at 205 lbs. Right now I eat 4000 calories and am not getting much fatter.
If you’re not eating enough your metabolism slows to a crawl. Bascially, if your body thinks it is starving everything you put in your mouth will be ‘saved’
