Getting Drunk w/ Least Damage to Progress

Here’s the rub:

 1. Limit fat intake on the day you’re gonna booze

 2. Limit carb intake on the day you’re gonna booze

 3. Eat enough protein (let’s say 1g/lb) but not too much, since you want overall caloric intake to be somewhat restricted on this day.

 4. Pick smart drinks

Alcohol does not contribute significantly to fat gain by itself. It gets converted into acetate in your body, which the body senses is a poison and rushes to metabolize it. While doing so it puts the brakes on digesting all of the other real food you’ve eaten, making it more likely to be stored as adipose tissue.

The only other problem with alcohol is it causes disinhibition of dietary restraint (AKA binging on pizza late at night like a mofo).

I’ve done a lot of research on this andit IS POSSIBLE to drink occasionally (and get downright plastered, in fact) and still look good, get stronger, etc. etc. I just wish I had figured this shit out in college…

This.

Also would add:

 1. Stick to clear liquors
 2. Low/no calorie mixers
 3. Resist the temptation to eat when you’re drunk. Beer munchies are brutal and loss of self control is kind of a premier effect of alcohol.
 4. minerals, fluids, and electrolytes before bed. ZMA and a powerade zero accomplishes this.
 5. More fluids and electrolytes upon waking. In other words, more powerade zero.

I also think it’s OK to have a shot of whiskey every so often through the night if you’re at the bar and then stand there without your left arm on the bar and your right holding a beer bottle. Back when I was young (age 35) it seemed like women were a tad easier to talk to if you didn’t look like you were using a beer bottle as a crutch. Same with chewing gum. It’s OK to chew it, I like gum, especially bubble gum…but just don’t make it look like you’re chewing your cud.

Oh fuck me I’m giving advice about women in a drinking thread on a bodybuilding forum.
depends on the number of times it’s distilled and impurities=more hangover… also i think if you have to mix, you should mix with juice, because part of the reason I feel like shit after jack and coke nights are because I drank a liter of coke and you wake up in full on caffeine withdrawal. Also take b vitamins … this helps. also pretending you didnt go out and drink the night before (not babying yourself/unless you’re puking) helps you complete normal daily activities. /end drunk contribution

The hangover has more to do with dehydration, than impurities in the alcohol. Sugar from the juice will add to the hangover.

The dehydration will cause the brain to shrink a bit, creating tension on the sheathing between the brain and skull. That adds to the headache.

The amount of caffeine in soda is very small. And the withdrawal effect from caffeine will be overshadowed by the withdrawal effect from the alochol. A few sips of alcohol in the morning after drinking really does help to alleviate a hangover. Along with a few bottles of water before going to bed.

A little trick I learned at university for drinking alcohol with no mixers- stand on your head and down it neat, your tongue is now at the top of your mouth so it slips down without you tasting the neat alcohol!

Not that I do weird shit like that any more, been tee-total for nearly 3 years now, so not drinking IS an option, you just gotta have enough confidence in yourself to not be phased by peer pressure or by the thought of talking to girls not off-your-face

WORST ADVICE EVER!!!

You obviously havent gone out drinking in Pacific Beach and hit up the taco stand for a plate of Carne Asada Cheese Fries at 2:30 in the morning

May as well just eat drink and be merry for the night.

It was cheap shit vodka we bought from this foreign guy who it wouldn’t surprise me to find out he brewed it himself in his cellar mostly out of snake piss, I wouldn’t want to meet the guy who enjoyed the taste of that.

Drink, have fun. Continue with your training and nutrition like nothing happened.
Exactly. Provided you’re not doing this like more than twice a week and the rest of your days are filled with GOOD food and training sessions yo’ll be fine bro. If you never touched alcohol? Sure you might notice a bit more gains with strength, energy levels, “look”…but life is short.

The key is not to stress about it. When you’re going out, just put a smile on your face and enjoy yourself! then pick up where you left off the next day (which is hopefully not on the bathroom floor).

I drink water in between drinks, as well as 2x RDV of vit B. stay hydrated, though you will frequent the bathroom more often, youll be better off in the morning. Also the advice about ZMA and Powerade Zero is spot on, altough I prefer the taste of G2. If your still hungover in the morning, chug water and or powerade zero/g2 get another drink and a workout or do something physical, morning sex is always nice, to sweat out/flush any left over toxins seems to work pretty good

God super fucked up last night…Did not sleep well and had work in the morning…Ate a granola bar at 9 am and didn’t have a meal until 5…Regardless, I hit the gym and had the worst workout of my life…

Cool story bro.

I hear ya Austin… yesterday night I ended up going to sleep at 6am, fucking super drunk night. Today was fucked, felt like shit, hitting the gym tomorrow instead since I skipped today. I seriously need to stop drinking so much.

Guinness for strenght…

Because it’s fucking stupid…that’s why.
