Lol, I remember being 10 years old and coming home to get my bat. This kid who was a year or two older had kicked my ass, and I was gonna get him. My father asked where I was going with that, and I told him. He told me in no uncertain terms that if someone hit me, I was to go ahead and hit them back twice as hard. He also said that getting back at someone like I was about to, was for cowards.
It stuck. If I take offense to something now, I let the person know right away. It might not come out exactly right, hell I even may make a fool of myself… but at least I’ve said my piece, and can let it go after. After one such confrontation at a new workplace, there usually won’t be another. You let someone scold you like a dog once… well.

I don’t know bro. I was in school and then grad school for an entire decade (going part-time and full-time) and I never saw that kind of shit. Neither did my four sisters or my brothers-in-law (all of them living and breathing academia), nor the many friends and acquaintances with whom I went to college with.
There are idiots and whores in college, think non-performance based fraternities and sororities - which is why Spring Break exists (break for what? From college? These idiots don’t know what a hard life is like, they don’t need a break.)
Anyways, by and large, they are a fraction of those who go to college. The overwhelming majority are too busy with course work, part-time jobs and research to do indulge in that kind of stupid shit.
I would dare to say that this hard-working majority/horseplaying minority pattern exists in one shape or another in any other educational institution where people are making the transition into adulthood, in particular in the developed world.
Another reason why I don’t have tolerance for that kind of shit is the following:
Despite that commiting acts of stupidity is part of being young and inexperience, for every truly retarded young person that does some truly retarded shit, there are dozens, if not hundred of young people, even kids, who would never in their wildest dream do the same stuff.
There are degrees of stupidity, and the stupider an act is, the more difficult it gets to justify or forgive, independently of the offender’s age.
Most kids and young people commit stupid shit, forgetting to pay bills on time, not living on a budget, unrealistic relationships, job blunders, being too naive, etc.
Very few throw body fluids to others, or think they should get a few more scraps to get more experience in problem-solving.
