We need a general fitness sub-forum.
We wouldn’t if the beginners posted in the beginner section. I can see a complete newb thinking that oh yeah, I can burn fat and put on a lot of muscle in a few months. But one would think that after five minutes on a site like this that mindset would change…apparently not. And I am a bit baffled that they choose the bodybuilding forum to post in when they immediately state that they don’t want to be anything resembling a bodybuilder. Mods should move them immediately to beginner section and clear up this forum…imo.
No one ever, ever wants to admit to a beginner. They always say "well I’ve been lifting for x amount of years so I’m not a beginner.
Yet they admit they made shitty or no gains in that time period. I’m amazed when I see the pictures of dudes lifting 5+ years who look like they’ve been lifting for 3 months. Yet somehow they’re above posting in the beginners section.
True…most seem to equate expertise to time rather than progess.
Agree completely. Because I had previously lifted on and off for the past 4 years, I had considered myself an intermediate lifter. However, after looking at Mark Rippetoe’s strength standards, I decided that I was still a beginner.
Maybe we could have a sticky in the Bodybuilding section saying that if your stats aren’t at least at the Intermediate Level (as seen in the charts), you need to post in the Beginner section?

Interessant site, I just see that I am ok with all my lift except the press. I was knowing before that my press was not heavy enough but I have shoulders problem.

Why do people jump into this forum to claim they do NOT want to be “bodybuilders”?
Is any…ANY…other forum experiencing that? Are people logging into Combat sports to claim they don’t want to fight?
there are plenty of people out ther who want to build muscle, get stronger, interested in hypertrophy, train ther arse off, almost live in the gym, totally committed etc. but who don’t want to be bodybuilders/compete in strength sports… someone suggested a “GENERAL FITNESS” forum, but that is too men’s health for me,certainly not interested in jogging, swimming, circuit class, pilates or any other weird shit that happens in comercial gyms.
perhaps there should be a “serious muscle development for people who don’t want to be bodybuilders” forum but that would be a bit of a mouthful.
lets face it, there are very few genuine bodybuilders on this site, and even fewer that post reguarly.
LOL!!!
What the fuck is “serious muscle development” if they want to also avoid “serious muscle development”?
You guys are a fucking riot.
If you seriously develop your muscles, you will look like a fucking bodybuilder. It is pretty sad you think otherwise, though.

Oh, you’re behind the times.
In order to avoid looking like a bodybuilder, I simply don’t train my arms!

I don’t know - the standards seem too low. I got into the advanced category in (press, squat, deadlift) and intermediate in bench press (I don’t do cleans) based on the chart and everyone knows I do not even look like I lift weights yet.

LOL
My bad.
I do want to see a picture of “serious muscle development” that somehow avoids looking “seriously muscular”.
Why the fuck are most of these guys in the gym or on this site if their goal is to AVOID serious progress? People like this are why this board can’t reach its potential. Every time we discuss how to get big, we have to deal with these fuckers who don’t really want to get big…so they log onto a bodybuilding forum…to avoid looking like a bodybuilder…because they want to make serious progress…but they don’t have the desire to live the lifestyle of someone who is serious…so they call us all meatheads because we are actually trying to gain “serious muscle development”.

Has anyone created an E-shotgun yet?
← Track his location, call Langley, ask if they have operatives in the area, ask for option #3 - Drive-by (it’s the fastest), punch in your credit-card number…
Profit.
Btw, you totally misunderstood everything people are saying in this thread.
Let me make it easy for you.
“serious muscle development” = Brad Pitt in Fight Club or that dude with the narrow shoulders in Blade Trinity.
I have a confession to make and this thread is as good as anywhere to do it. I may get over it at some point, but I am officially burned out on discussing “bodybuilding” in these (and probably any other) forums. This has nothing whatever to do with my commitment to training, but I don’t think I’ve seen a new discussion since about the six month point of my registering here. This thread just really brought it home. I’m not leaving and I’ll still post and this has nothing to do with anybody except me. The thrill is gone baby.
Over and over and over again. It’s not T-Nation’s fault either, it’s just the way things are now. I look around and I just don’t have the motivation to type the same things for the 500th time.
Nuthin against this guy in particular, but the moment of clarity arrived while reading through this thread.
The human body needs to be bullied into becoming bigger, stronger and even leaner than it’s naturally occurring state of sedentary equilibrium. It takes commitment, tons of work and tons of patience. Those who will make impressive progress will figure it out. Those who won’t will start the 1000th thread asking some version of the same half dozen questions.

i agree.
my point is, there are few “bodybuilders” posting in this forum but we still don’t want a general fitness forum.
i think you may have missed my poor attempt at irony.
