This guy tries to convince us in all ways that gaining muscle is actually bad

As stupid as it sounds, there’s some truth to this. Heck, I’m ONLY 150 lbs and 8% BF, and MOST women I know think I’m TOO HUGE already. Then again, I live in the Philippines, and I don’t care much about what they say. I’m gonna do powerlifting as long as I want. I suggest we all do the same. Don’t be bothered with these internet hullaballoos and just lift.
Dude, I’ve heard, “you look good now, but don’t get any bigger” since I was 180lbs. They STILL say this. Most average people have no concept of what gaining muscle even looks like. They also can’t see anything but how you look RIGHT NOW.
They tell you this because they see you making progress and they assume, based on media and their own misguided perceptions, that you simply could not look better with even more size on you.
I would get looked at like I was insane if I actually told someone not into bodybuilding that my goal was to get bigger. That is why many of us avoid ever discussing this shit in public outside of the people we may actually train with.
If it wasn’t for the fact that people come to me about bodybuilding matters (even though they aren’t likely to actually follow any advice), I would never bring up lifting…EVER.
I actually had a conversation about bodybuilding with some girls from my school. They thought I was at a perfect weight, and when I told them I wanted to get bigger, they couldn’t understand why. Still, most of societies problems with lifting weights and size are amplified in high school.

Should have responded, “Have sex with me.”

I wish.
Here’s an excerpt:
“Guys in the free-weight room try to give you the impression that lifting is tough. Gaining muscle is actually extremely easy…just lift for a lot of sets and try to get stronger in the 6-12 rep range. After your workout is done, go home and eat a protein rich meal. Getting toned involves pushing past the pain barrier a bit and expending energy.”

Yeah, and that’s why majority of the population is HUGE!

LOL.
Yeah, it is sooo easy that out of 100 people in a gym today, you may be lucky if 20 look like they lift regularly. You would have better odds of winning the lottery than of there being even 2 really huge fuckers who could compete within a few months.
Yep, getting toned is where the real pain and effort is.

Exactly, my long-ago ex-gf was in love with Eddie Vedder from Pearl Jam.
Take away the fame and money and he’s the crazy homeless guy at the shelter who drinks his own urine.
Hell, I’d be the crazy homeless man if I could sing and write a song like Vedder.
Though I’d probably need to be McCready on guitar, too, before I go sippin’ my urine.

I’ll add in buzzwords to make it more my style.

Apparently, women consider this manly.
Not mine, though.

I want to know what the women look like who claim “average muscle mass” is what they want.
Most of the women in this country are fat as hell, don’t exercise and spend more time picking out what to wear than what goes into their mouths.
I am not looking for an “average woman”. If this is the desire of the average woman…then it is if no concern to me.
That’s a really good point. What the “average woman” wants is probably a guy that isn’t good looking enough to cheat on her. A girl probably won’t date a guy that’s intimidating, but I wouldn’t date a girl that was intimidated by me, either.
