Get Cut Without Getting Huge

Isn’t that one of those Tokyo Hotel morons ?
I spent several Years in South Africa and when I returned to germany, suddenly those dudes were all “hip” and “in” and whatnot.

Needless to say, I felt rather alienated from my old home.

As stupid as it sounds, there’s some truth to this. Heck, I’m ONLY 150 lbs and 8% BF, and MOST women I know think I’m TOO HUGE already. Then again, I live in the Philippines, and I don’t care much about what they say. I’m gonna do powerlifting as long as I want. I suggest we all do the same. Don’t be bothered with these internet hullaballoos and just lift.

If you base everything about you from your goals in the gym to your appearance on what you think “most women” want, you are one weak individual…especially since most women don’t even seem to know what they want.

That doesn’t mean that the rest of us avoid doing things for sex, but when it comes to what makes you who you are, if that is up for grabs and easily changed based on what’s “hawt” right now, you are a puppet and a follower.

The above picture is of Brendan Hansen, member of the 2008 USA Olympic Swim team. I think it takes a great deal of dedication to reach that level, but there is no way I would be on this site or waste this much energy on training and food intake if that was all my goal was physically.

This man trains for a PURPOSE and that purpose has shit to do with what most women want primarily.

Why would a strong independent woman want someone who shapes who they are based on what they think everyone else wants?
Where in the Philippines do you work out? Just curious, because I haven’t come across any powerlifting gyms here.

Dude, I’ve heard, “you look good now, but don’t get any bigger” since I was 180lbs. They STILL say this. Most average people have no concept of what gaining muscle even looks like. They also can’t see anything but how you look RIGHT NOW.

They tell you this because they see you making progress and they assume, based on media and their own misguided perceptions, that you simply could not look better with even more size on you.

I would get looked at like I was insane if I actually told someone not into bodybuilding that my goal was to get bigger. That is why many of us avoid ever discussing this shit in public outside of the people we may actually train with.

If it wasn’t for the fact that people come to me about bodybuilding matters (even though they aren’t likely to actually follow any advice), I would never bring up lifting…EVER.

I don’t train in a PL gym. I don’t know if one even exists here. Where I train is a commercial gym within the university. I make do with the only power rack, but it’s enough to train PL.

Yeah, my thoughts exactly, except I’m more concerned on how much I lift than how I look. Still, they can kiss my ass for criticizing my training.

If that’s your goal then … spend your time trying to get RICH. Because a shit-load of rich will change a woman’s definition of what’s attractive instantly.

Why aren’t there more posts focused on social status? Unless you have Ryan Reynold’s bank account, looking like him isn’t going to do all that much for you by itself. Brad Pitt gets as much attention because he is Brad Pitt, not because he literally fits every woman’s fantasy physically. I bet someone the size of LL Cool J or bigger could pull more ass if neither one of them were well known.

People should spend more time becoming the limit of their own potential rather than trying to fit some mould that others claim is desirable…especially if those others have shit to sell.

Most relationship problems stem from money issues. She won’t give a shit about your fucking abs if you can’t afford rent.

Exactly, my long-ago ex-gf was in love with Eddie Vedder from Pearl Jam.

Take away the fame and money and he’s the crazy homeless guy at the shelter who drinks his own urine.

He’s soooooooooo hot! (well, he IS sweating a lot).

You all should take this article more seriously. I remember this one time I went to the gym, and as soon as I arrive in the freeweight area, I could feel myself changing. Looking back,I should have just walked away right then.

Instead, I proceeded to do some curls and a couple sets of quarter-squats, I think that was my biggest mistake right there. You always think, oh, that’ll never happen to me. If only I had been more cautious.
Going way back…

This thread:

TSB !

i think when the author talks about “too much muscle” he isnt talking about 6ft 230, like someone who looks like a pro football player. hes talking about someone like Jay Cutler or Ronnie Coleman.

people who a lot of guys even on this site feel just arent good looking and look more like mutants than anything. are girls going to find that attractive? no. but will a girl find a member of the PC with a rating above 7 to be attractive? id bet money on it.

i gaurantee if the author of that article was on the street showing women 2 people, Ronnie Coleman and some random swimmer or scocer player and theyd take the smaller guy. just because he looks normal. youre going to find very few people -especially female who thinks that an elite level super-heavyweight bodybuilder is attractive.

but Arnold was a sex symbol of the 90s so was LL Cool J and even 50 Cent now. these are guys who fit the bill of big, but not “too big” and i think theres a reason more girls have 50 cent on their wall than David Becham.

the other thing to consider is that guess what, most people arent in shape and dont lift weights. so when theres a ratio of like 1:100 for big guys to little guys, the average womans concept of what a man i supposed to look like and even who they find attractive early on are for “avrage built” guys.

i think most girls just like a guy with a cute face and blue eyes and if you have those things they dont care if you look like shoot up heroin. oh, and being famous always helps too.

i think that author belongs on this site:

Even if it was completely true that women hate those “big bulky muscles”, I’d still lift weights.

I know this guy, he used to be a fat bastard and then he got “lean” and thinks he is fucking Don Juan. C’mon, all this guy wants is to sell his ebook.
