Absolutely. I went on to praise it in my last post but for some reason they edited that out.

Its unlike any RPG you’ve ever played, an it is probably the most mature RPG i can think of. And by that i mean it’s story, dialogue, topics and themes are of a VERY mature nature, very intelligent.

The Last Of Us is just as good as people make it out to be, the characters are brilliant, there’s some very satisfying flavour text/dialogue and the story is playing out beautifully. I kind of wish clickers weren’t quite so easy to sneak up on, and that there was more infected/military/marauder conflict, but apart from that it’s almost perfect for me. I’m only about half way through right now, but I’m having a hell of a time.

I made it about 5 minutes in and then decided there was nothing meaningful here. Although i had deduced that within about the first 2.

[[The Last Of Us Semi-Spoilers inbound, I’m not going to throw out anything that will completely ruin the story, but maybe a couple of things you may wish you’d found for yourself.]]

Just finished the story of “The Last Of Us”. Holy fucking shit, anybody that doesn’t have this needs to buy this immediately and play it from beginning to end with no rest. I haven’t seen a game with a screenplay like this in a very, very long time. The characters are incredibly easily to connect with and the dialogue/voice acting was absolutely superb.

The game throws you through some very emotional loops, and even though it may seem like total bullshit, they start you off pretty easy with that compared to how things play out towards the ending. It just ramps and ramps until it blows over in the finale. I adore how it turned out, without giving too much away, I’m glad about how much thought the development team put into the ending, even if I might not agree with the character decisions leading up to it, and I’m still trying to wrap my head around it. I was a little angry by the end for the characters, but it may still have been the perfect way to finish the game.

There are some pretty great reference Easter Eggs (most to Naughty Dog) in the game, including a children’s toy shop in the Pittsburgh area that features game boxes of ‘Jak & Daxter’ and ‘Uncharted’, which I was very pleased to find. Also a relatively large cameo appearance by Nolan North’s voice in the late-game that I liked. There’s a pretty funny reference to Twilight that shows up now and again, complete with amusing flavour text/dialogue.

The flavour text is brilliant in the game, there are small notes you can pick up that may give backstories on other survivors or events from the story outside of Joel’s direct perspective, I picked up a lot of them over time and they go very deep sometimes, which I am very grateful for, one in particular is even interactive with another character and creates a very small sub-scene within the story.

I have very little, if any faults with how this turned out, I enjoyed it from beginning to end and I appreciate it not just as a video game but as a cinematic experience also. To make this from scratch is impressive, without knowing better anyone could think it had been derived from a successful, bestselling post-apocalyptic novel. It may easily the best game Naughty Dog has ever made, and easily the most resonant. I felt more from this game than I have in the entire Uncharted franchise, and that’s not an easy hurdle to jump. Hell, I may even pit this close to the Metal Gear Solid storytelling in terms of emotional resonance and meaningfulness.

This was surely a masterpiece and easily a contender for best game of 2013, even with all the new games set to release later in the year, I’m sure The Last Of Us will stay firmly in the running.

The Last of Us: Here’s my take. Spoiler free.

Personally it’s not my kind of game. I was expecting more “Uncharted” and less “Splinter Cell” if that makes sense. I can see the appeal if you like that kind of game though.

Pros:
-The game is beautiful. Naughty Dog utilizes everything the PS3 has to offer.
-Story is exceptional thus far.
-If you like stealth games this game is for you.
-The limited inventory is refreshing.

Cons:
-IF YOU DON’T LIKE STEALTH THEN PASS.
-Controls aren’t great. I noticed I got stuck quite a bit when trying to move over objects/climb. It’s not awful, but noticeable. The shooting mechanics are also a bit iffy. Multiple times I would aim down the sight to fire and on a follow up shot the camera would switch shoulders, not a deal breaker, but annoying.

All in all it’s a solid game especially if you like stealth games. I haven’t tried the multiplayer yet, so no review on that.

Yeah, I heard a lot from people playing the demo that suggested it was more run and gun and the stealth wouldn’t be that inclusive, which it instead turned out to be, in almost 90% of the game. I wish they’d made it a little more obvious pre-release that stealth would be the defining factor in making it through the game in one piece, but I’m glad that they took the stealth to the levels they did at least. Without being a reasonable stealth player, I imagine it would be very hard (if not impossible on higher difficulties) to make it through the game with such a light ammo count and disparity in finding more.

How far are you into it? Chapter 9 (Lakeside Resort) was one of my favourites, I really very much enjoyed that one, and it features a gameplay scene you surprisingly don’t find at any other point in the game really. Pittsburgh is a very fun one too, I really liked that one and the subsequent chapter. Sometimes I feel it goes for a little too much of a Walking Dead, but is dragged down to predictability in the story, in that most of the game has to feature Joel and Ellie as a centre point so it has to constantly return to that, but it still handles it very well.

The multiplayer is pretty fun, very closed in and doesn’t take all too long for a round to play out. It’s semi-stealthy in that things like running and shooting cause you to appear on the radar and get easily picked up by the listening mechanic, but there’s still a lot of gunplay and executions. I really like trap setting too, I’ve won many a round thanks to that, especially 1v1’s when everyone else has died out.

Ya I wish the game play style would have been a bit more known. It’s listed as action adventure, which I think is misleading, but whatever.

I’m not very far at all actually. I played for like 4 hours over the weekend. I’ll try the multiplayer, it sounds interesting.

Interesting article on PS4 vs. Xbox One.

Not only does the PS4 in theory have a significantly faster GPU, but one HUGE thing thats being overlooked in my opiniong is the fact that only 5GB of Xbone’s RAM are dedicated to gaming. The other 3 are dedicated to running the OS. On PS4, 7GB of RAM are dedicated to gaming, and the OS only uses 1GB. That means not only is the GDDR5 RAM faster than Xbox’s, but it technically has more of it during gameplay as well.

Another thing that im surprised i havent heard more people talk about is the remote play with Vita. The idea of being able to play any of your PS4 games anywhere you have wifi with just your Vita is honestly one of the greatest features ive ever seen in a videogame console. Think of all the places you’re stuck, potentially bored out of your mind that this would come in handy? My dealership has free wifi, so anytime im getting maintenance or an oil change. My cafe at work has free wifi, so something to do on my breaks. Many airlines now offer wifi (though its likely you have to have a pretty strong connection, which many airlines lack while in-flight, but still)

I will definitely be picking up a vita shortly after PS4’s launch to make use of this feature.

This has “commercial” written all over it. You just posed as a weight lifter for all this time to fool us.

Ya, I mean if it works like Sony is saying, I might get a Vita as well. I always wanted one, I just didn’t think it was worth it.

I personally didnt think it was worth it, but it looks like working in tandem with the PS4 will make it so.

That is, if it truly does work as they say it will. Ill wait and see before jumping out and buying a vita, but it is definitely intriguing.

Sony planted several agents like myself throughout many websites that contain forums that are hotbeds for intense and trivial debate back in 2009. Our mole at Microsoft had passed information along to use regarding the DRM policies and restrictions back in spring 2009 and we knew that we could be instrumental in influencing public opinion when debate inevitably popped up regarding these consoles on websites known for fickle arguments.

Also, they pay me in a steady stream of doritos and mountain dew. In my best Sam Cooke voice, “Thats where it’s at.”

I rarely go above 4 GB of RAM usage on my PC with windows and all kinds of programs running in the background, even with 64 players on BF3 or other heavy game situations. 5 GB is plenty even with integrated graphics. Just look at what the PS3 did with 256+256 MB of far slower RAM.

I’m more concerned with the bandwidth on the XBOX one, which will likely limit the GPU. sRAM won’t solve everything.

Doesn’t seem like Dead Rising anymore to me.

Honestly looks much better to me now. I never liked the first two. This new one is the only thing that M$ showed that i wish was on PS4.
