Geek S**T Pleaze 9

Anyone see the new trailers for that game “Evil Within”? It’s a survival horror game made by the creator of Resident Evil I believe… Can’t post link from my phone but looks creepy as hell. Also a new sandbox zombie survival game for Xbox Live called State of Decay its been pretty well liked by everyone so far and is pretty damn similar to walking dead, complete with a safe house to return to and fortify, npcs to rescue, etc…

Also will probably pick up a Vita as well… Been on the fence about it for a while because I don’t know how much use I would get out of it, this makes it much more worth it for me though…

Edit: Evil Within - E3 2013 Stage Demo - GameSpot

Just finished playing bioshock.

Mind. Blown.

Been playing Super Star Wars for the SNES all day today.

The sheer simplicity of 8 and 16 bit games makes them so charming that you come back time and time again no matter how much the game kicks your ass.

Honestly looks much better to me now. I never liked the first two. This new one is the only thing that M$ showed that i wish was on PS4. [/quote]

Agree with everything you said. I love zombie shit, but I didnt enjoy the style or gameplay in the 1st games.

Too little too late probably, this 180 degree turn isn’t big enough to cause people to cancel their PS4 pre orders.

Why pay more for an arguably weaker console with lacklustre exclusives?

The meme you posted above is exactly why im surprised this happened so soon. I knew it was bound to happen, shortly after release at the latest, but lately theyve been sticking to their guns so well i didnt see this coming so soon. I spoke more about this in the PS4 thread. I agree with you, it will allow Xbox One to sell more but some people (like myself) will not want to support this bullshit.

They arent doing it for the gamers, they’re doing it because they practically have a gun held to their head forcing them to do so.

So I am thinking of buying the ARMA 3 alpha. I do not have a PC Mic, what do some of you PC gamers recommend?

I genuinely didn’t think Last of Us would live up to the hype, but it has truly surpassed my expectations.

Unreal how times change, I remember getting the first Crash Bandicoot for my birthday when I was little and now I got given Last of Us for this year. Naughty Dog have given me some of my fondest gaming memories and it’s nice that the titles have seemed to mature naturally as I have gotten older.

Contender for favourite game of this generation for sure, I have to complete it first to decide if it can do the unthinkable and dethrone Guns of the Patriots.

Isn’t it wonderful? I’ve heard not one bad thing about The Last Of Us yet. Not one since release. I didn’t think it would quite hit potential either, but it’s easily one of the most accomplished games in recent memory, I’m thoroughly glad that Naughty Dog decided to split their dev team and get to work on it.

I’ve adored Kojima’s Metal Gear games since the old Microsoft X ones, I think the competition between Guns Of The Patriots and The Last Of Us is incredibly close, if people prefer it over Metal Gear Solid 4, then I would not even be mad about that. It deserves all the appreciation it gets and it was easily one of the best of the entire generation, a brilliant work of art.

What part are you up to now?

I have just met back up with Tommy at the Hydro.

The thing that is swaying me more towards MGS4 right now is that it started off slow and really amped it up with each act and the final scenes were just heartbreaking.

Whilst The Last of Us started out with stuff I genuinely wasn’t expecting, stuff that was so poignant I was taken aback. But that’s where the magic lies in the game. I genuinely feel as weary and worn as Joel, always looking for supplies whilst Ellie is off on her own world trying to whistle and actually finding her chat charming. The pacing of the story is perfect whilst MGS4 felt sometimes a bit choppy between acts. MGS4 also has the problem of a potentially un relatable protagonist (since hes a clone and hence why I’m so excited for MGS5) whilst you do feel fully immersed into Joel’s story.

BLaaaaaah, it’s a tough one. Will just have to see how Last of Us finishes up. It will be hard to top the microwave corridor, epic fight on top of Outer Haven, the acceptance of a son and Otacons words “Snake…had a hard life”.

Ooh you’re getting close to the end, there’s a real great kind of winter chapter that’s only a couple away from the one you’re on now, I think it’s probably my favourite one, besides the ending, possibly.

Yeah, The Last Of Us isn’t scared of all that dark shit that nobody wants to think about post-apocalypse, and I love how strong and powerful it is behind the storyline. The flavour talk is brilliant, I was amazed by the script and voice acting, there are some references that make me cream too. Did you find the Uncharted and Bandicoot boxes in the toy shop in Pittsburgh? Where the kid wants to take the transformer figure, but his brother won’t let him? I was a sucker for that one, and the Twilight mock posters that show up.

The Last Of Us’ ending isn’t particularly a fireworks display, but it’s very humble and sombre and I think it took itself into some very untrodden paths, which I admire, evening if it’s a little stupid. I genuinely had another ending in mind (you’ll know what the alternate would be once you’ve finished) that would have been equally kind of anti-climactic (in the best way possible), but I have a hard time deciding which I really like more.

I love Joel’s character, and Ellie’s, it’s one of the best video game character dynamics I’ve seen in a while. I kind of just wish he’d have taken a couple hours out of his schedule to teach her how to swim though…at the very least it would have made for stupidly cheesy cutscene humour.

Oh yeah, the death of Zero and Big Boss killed me, and the Liquid fight after the microwave tunnel (the score on which was incredible). I think I might still jump towards MGS4 for nostalgia’s sake and a full investment in the franchise, but The Last Of Us was very adeptly executed.

I’m excited for the ending now, and the touches like the bandicoot games are awesome haha.

Btw Kahuna try out Dark Souls sometime, the story elements are fantastic. So much in depth story and lore that you have to discover and interpret.

It has to be said I was sitting after the into to Last of Us and pitying those poor xbox users, with their Halo lolol.

Oh don’t you worry, I used to massacre at Dark Souls, spent multiple days cleaning house with Red Eye Orb invasions. I did a level 1 run through from Asylum to Gwyn that took me a hell of a lot of tries, got up to level 1 NG+ run at Anor Londo, but I was too bad at Ornstein and Smough to make it through on my own so I never finished it. You ever play Demon’s Souls? I went back and tried it a little while ago, it’s really very good*. Can’t wait for Dark Souls 2, looks incredible.

Fuck yes, someone with admiration for the souls series.

I’m never brave enough to do a level 1 run, there are just some bosses that are just unpredictable. I struggle with the Giant Sewer Rat and Capra Demon when trying to do a level one run just because of the unpredictable nature of their attacks.

Did you get the exspansion to it? The ollocile(sp?) levels were fantastic, got squashed countless times by the stone giants and the three bosses were my favourite of the entire game. I struggled with Black Dragon Kalameet for over a week lol.

In some ways I prefer Demon Souls because it was a bit more creepy but it’s mechanics and weapon upgrade systems were pish compared to Dark Souls.

Cant wait for the 2nd one, mainly cause i’m interested in what the story will be. I would like it to be about Gwyn’s first born, although I know in the original drafts Andre of Astoria was meant to be revealed to be the first born I would like the protagonist of this one be him, thus making it…dare I say it…a prequel!

Yeah, Capra Demon is my fucking nemesis, I hate that guy. For whatever reason the demons (the ones that have the exact same character model but show up with different elements and difficulties and shit) were impossible to me for the longest time, the first one was alright, but the rest fucking sucked for me when I was new to it. Yeah man, I got the DLC, I loved the hell out of it. Was glad to see Artorias make an appearance especially. I enjoyed the Oolacile parts a ton, but most of it was really great all around.

Yeah, I really didn’t know how I felt about Moongrass Vs. Estus, but I think I prefer Estus most likely. A prequel?? Gasp!. I can’t wait, I’m sure it will deliver, but I really don’t know how much better it can be than Dark Souls. I just hope they fix the fucking framerate. Blighttown man, as if it wasn’t already annoying enough to get through there.

And no one here probably knows how true that statement was

There are no Dark Souls players here? That saddens me.

None that I know of sadly.

Watched the season opening of Falling Skies season 3 yesterday. The ending of season 2 was like wtf in a good way… the season opening was like wtf in a negative way. So what did happen in those 7 months and who’s idea was it to skip those 7 months. No more Falling Skies for me.

Will buy Farcry 3 to make up for this sadness.
