I dont know Uncharted was a great fun game, not much in the story or moral issues. This game like it says seems to pull you into it like the Road.

This is the kind of game I love.

Interesting.

I’ll be the judge of that when I play next week.

I’ve read somewhere that the AI is a pain in the ass. That might spoil my gaming experience.

Still, can’t wait to play this game.

Yeah I guess, but I’ll be damned if there’s anyone out there that regrets buying it. I loved Uncharted 3 (I loved all of them, but the third in particular). Also love “The Road”, film adaptation could have been better though, maybe they finally nailed the feel of it with a video game. I like that films and video games are reaching this merge, where there are opportunities to create something in a game that resonates like a film, I could say things like Heavy Rain or Beyond: Two Souls, but shit, even the Metal Gear Solid franchise has been pulling this off for years now.

I like the added immersion of a game environment, the post-apocalypse in particular is a really fun one to explore.

I have the same thoughts, PX and I have discussed that a lot in these threads. I personally would rather see more games like this (not just post apocalyptic) where the story and “feel” is just as important and invested in as the graphics.

I always watched movies and can immerse myself in the story, but you still feel like you would like to have creative control of the outcome. That to me is gaming, not the online fight with 14 year old asian kids who have the hand eye coordination of a crack addict and autistic child.

Resident evil 2 back in the day was the game that got me back into gaming, that emotional roller coaster of that game has not been matched to me and I hope this game does that.

I like the idea that you’re faced with options early on that will set the precedent for how the game plays out later on. I’m hoping one day that games will branch out farther than things like The Walking Dead game (not the cheap shoddy first person one, the original cool cell-shaded one), and there will be these kinds of reverse factorisation branches that distribute themselves into different events, rather than head down a pre-set path with slight changes. Even though The Walking Dead game toyed with my emotions better than I ever could have hoped, I still regret feeling that the end point is the same and I’m just heading down the odd dirt track or two before rejoining the highway.

I appreciate it would take years to even make something like that happen properly, without hitches and pitfalls in the plot, but I’m sure it will eventually happen to an admirable end, and I can’t wait for it to present itself. David Cage’s “screenplays” still have the odd tweak here and there to really be perfect (and Heavy Rain had some real stupid character model hitches in certain scenes), but I think he could pull something out the bag if he put all his time and effort into that kind of game, where the events of the story are not pre-set, but emerge in the instance of deciding to do one thing in place of another and end up in a completely different location. I realise the flaws with someone missing huge chunks of the game, and the criticism of certain paths not being as fulfilling as others, but the replay value would be off the charts, and the huge selection of endings and character appearances would be incredible.

I’m off to sleep now, I’m sure I’ve rambled a lot and most of the above doesn’t really make that much sense, I’ll think it over tonight.

I am out of town next week on Vacation. So I can not purchase until we get back, then I have to go out of town again two days after getting back

Going to drive me nuts.

That sucks. I hate when a new release comes out and it sits on my coffee table for a week or two before it gets opened.

Well its not as bad cause I will not be at home.

This thread will drive me nuts though

Oh shit yeah, Kiefer Sutherland is Big Boss now, I was kind of sad that Hayter had left, but this sounds like it will fill his place really nicely.

Hmmm, sounds good but just not sure how sutherland will sound in the role.

Gonna be interesting to see who gets cast as solid for the movie.

He already has that pretty deep gritty voice thing going on, I’ll miss Hayter, but I guess it’s best to get a real film actor if they’re also going for the motion capture route, a la Ellen Page/Beyond: Two Souls.

You think they’ll have a Solid Snake character involved? He’ll have only been twelve years old by the events of the story I think, I heard Phantom Pain was set to be in the mid 80’s after Big Boss’s induced coma from the mission in Cuba post-Enfants. But they’re going with the whole hallucination-induced thing, and Psycho Mantis was revealed, so he could be in there, maybe along with Liquid if we’re lucky.

The new FOX engine also looks cool as shit, I can’t wait to see how it turns out during real gameplay environments.

The Last Of Us leaked gameplay, first 90 minutes. Thank me later.

I’m still not liking the Xbox One’s new policies surrounding used games and online connection.

Soooo…

If I understand this correctly, “The Last of Us” will only come out on the PS3?

Yes, entirely exclusive. I believe it should now be out across the States.

Not sure why I’m telling you that, because I already knew you were Austrian. But it’s out there now so I guess we’ll both have to just deal with it.

Well, seeing as it’s a game made by Naughty Dog, a Sony owned studio, and published by Sony Computer Entertainment America, yes, only on PS3.

Maybe in 5 or so years PC’s will be able to emulate PS3, so there’s always that if you are opposed to consoles or the PS3.
