Geek S**T Pleaze 9

Microsoft’s share of the gaming market must be set to plummet after all this, there’s no way people with any knowledge of how the new system is laid out will go for this rather than a PC or PS4, unless they’re too blindly devoted to realise their mistake.

PS4 confirmed to Eurogamer that you CAN play second hand games on the system for no fee. XBOX (Mircosoft) is trying to make the most they can from it all.

Plus you need to have your connect plugged in 24/7 for the Xbox to work. Even if the game does not have connect capabilities. [/quote]

Ah well…

PS4 and Steam it is then…

Like do these companies have focus groups at all for product development?..

Yes, the Ben Franklin team.

I read today this isn’t the case.

Xbox One needs to connect to the Internet. There are many of the services that are just powered by the Internet, streaming movies, playing multiplayer (games), things like that. If we can’t get to the Internet, you can play your single-player games assuming they don’t take advantage of something on the Internet that it needs. You can watch Blu-ray movies, you can watch TV.

That said I am still liking the PS4 more, atleast thus far.

Backwards compatibility is a deal breaker for me. Seems Microsoft is going for the money grabber on this one and just relying on their devoted fans.

I don’t think the PS4 will be backward compatibile either, I agree it’s crap.

Completely different hardware makes backward compatibility impossible on both consoles. The good news is they’re both using x86 now (just like computers), so if consoles ever make it to PS5 or Xbox -358 (name based on linear regression), there’s at least the possibility that they’ll be backward compatible.

And why is that a deal breaker? Keep the 360 if you want to play 360 games, it’s not like it’ll be worth much if you sell it. New xboxes are dirt cheap now, just imagine what they’ll cost when the next gen comes out.

Performance wise: Yes, they’re identical except for much faster shared RAM on the PS4. That doesn’t mean it’ll get the graphics it deserves though. Consoles and computers are more similar than ever this generation and I wouldn’t be so sure that they try to get those last drops of performance out of the PS4 in cross-platform games. The exclusive ones will probably look pretty awesome in a few years though. Uncharted 5 or so. 8 GB GDDR5 is no joke.

I bought a “new” PS3 for $175 because my first gen broke. I am a happy boy now. Just in time for The Last Of Us.

That would be pretty cool, but you’d still have to pay for the games you already own I bet. Unless you could register your old copy somehow.

The Last Of Us Demo playthrough. It’s the first one I came across when I was searching, so the commentators maybe aren’t the best I’ve ever seen.

Great Zombieland reference about 2/5 of the way in though, so I like them for that.

Anyway, game looks really good. Really, incredibly good. I like that there’s a limited HUD, and that there’s no pause crafting, but it takes real in-game time to craft things.

I also really like how the monsters have turned out, I find them to be pleasantly creepy, and I love their echolocation mechanic. That clicking sound is disturbing, very enjoyable. Reminds me a little of the hospital escape with the young girl character from Siren, which I appreciate, because I loved that scene.

The environments look very nice too, I like the overgrowth of the building and the rain-drenched landscape of skirting around outside.

Stealth kills look a little rigid, but nicely grotesque. I like the emphasis on stealth to avoid being overwhelmed. As much as people hate it, I always liked when games kind of forced the stealth aspect, stops people from going through the motions of mindless action and forcing them to get their shit together.

Voice acting is of course brilliant, I love when a game has commendable voice acting.

Overall I really love how this has turned out, will be picking it up as soon as possible.

The game looks good. Feels very much like Walking Dead, but with little more action and without the unnecessary, useless dialogue that goes on in most episodes.

I can’t wait for next week.

Okay what is launch date again?

I am out of town for business this week, then on vacation out of town the next week, then back out of town the next week for business.

FUCK

I will have to avoid this thread like the plague during that time.

Ooh hard luck mate, luckily The Last Of Us is the only semi-large release all June, at least a popular one. Everything else is rather mundane, unless you’re into RTS’s, then you’ve got Company Of Heroes 2 to look forward to. I’ll keep my spoiler hat on until your return.
