Geek S**T Generation FOUR.ZERO

This movie comes out in two weeks (July 27th) I saw a early copy yesterday and…WOW!
This has to be the best Batman Animated Cartoon I’ve seen since Mask of the Phantasm, but this is waaaay bloodier. Without giving too much away it combines story elements from the Death In The Family & a tiny bit from the Hush story arcs. To make a fucking excellent Batman movie. It even has a great cameo from Nightwing in it as well.

I didn’t know what to expect with this but HOLY SHIT it fired on ALL CYLINDERS Action, Animation, voice acting, and the most surprising of all…story it was actually very deep and heart felt. When this comes out I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT. I would rank it as follows:

#1 Mask of the Phantasm
#2 Batman: Under the Red Hood
#3 Batman: Gotham Knight

If I were to count Batman Beyond Return of the Joker in this list it would actually come in second but because its Batman Beyond & not regular Batman I just didn’t count it.

adrian’s too girly, he needs real man meat to activate the waterworks.

Wol does enjoy his man meat. Like a dog with a new bone, but with less teeth.

I have a question for you FPS fans out there.

What size tv do you play on, and do you find the size of the tv effects your abilities?

I can’t play on a big tv. At all. It seems like i overcompensate for the extra distance and end up swinging my crosshair around all willy nilly, and I have to look around to see everything on my HUD.

With a 17 inch screen i can see everything at once.

and don’t even get me started on high def, that shit makes my head hurt.

50" Plasma, my couch is 8’ - 10’ away.

I also have the FPS Freek add-ons on both controllers.

If I get really annoyed with someone, drunk, or tired then I tend to forget about vital aspects in the corners of the HUD.

After playing on my big screen I hate going to smaller screens.

Bang Thor and Odin first look

Y’all could be playing Transformers: War for Cybertron.

This is a funtastic game. This game is written so well Hasbro has made it official canon in the TF universe. You get to play out the story of why the Transformers left Cybertron and came to Earth. Think the 80s cartoon, this has nothing to do with the Micheal Bay films.

Campaign and Co-op
There are 5 missions for the Decepticon campaign and 5 missions for the Autobot campaign. Chronologically the Decepticon campaign comes first but you can choose to start with either faction. The campaign mode plays as a 3-man squad, 3rd person shooter. There is no cover system a la Gears of War, even though you may see the AI controlled squad mates jumping out of cover. That threw me for a loop at first until I realized I’m playing a fucking Transformer. Who wants to crouch behind a wall when you can turn into a tank? Which brings up the 4 vehicle classes: Tank, Truck, Car, and Jet. Vehicle modes each have their own special ability and weapons.
Tanks - Big Ass Canon / 180 degree snap
Truck - Rockets / Ram (ie. vehicular robot slaughter)
Cars - machine gun / a crazy ass high speed barrel roll. its nuts but fun
Jets - Infinite Ammo - Machine guns & Rockets

In the campaign jets are limited to their own level. Each vehicle class has 3 character classes: Leader, Soldier, Scientist. Each class brings two special abilities, and these abilities can really change out the way you play out a battle. For example the Scientist can spawn a sentry gun, basically setting up a crossfire wherever I want. The scout can cloak invisible and stealth kill.

You begin each mission by choosing the character you want to play, which also determines vehicle mode and character class. Soundwave is a scientist/truck. Bumblebee is a scout/car. In Co-Op each player will fill the roll of one of the available characters. Most missions are more fun and easier in Co-Op mode with the exception of some boss battles because some twat won’t get out of the way of an incoming missile barrage. Each character starts off with their own gun. A second gun can be picked up during the mission and you can swap out your original gun for something else as well. This game as all the usual gun types:
Assault rifle
Mid-Range Snipe
Long-Range Snipe
Grenade Launcher
Missile Launcher
Big-Ass Walking Death Turret Guns
And a ton of different grenade types from Heat-seeking Mines to Healing grenades.

Horde / Firefight
Basically a 4-man squad faces off against increasingly difficult waves of on coming enemies. Each match will alternate between Autobots and Decepticons as you gun down familiar enemies from the campaign. Each kill earns you points that can be spent on health, ammunition, weapons, or opening doors to hidden areas of the map. The doors also hide improved weapons grenades etc… Like any similar game mode team work is key, but character/class selection is also very important. Those unique special abilities will go along way to rounding out a team.

Multi-Player
First off Multi-Player Modes

  1. Deathmatch - team and solo
  2. King of the Hill
  3. Capture and Hold Territory
  4. Blow up the other team’s base
  5. There are a couple more that I can’t think of.

Every match is Autobots vs Decepticons. There are tons of ways to earn XP by killing and being killed oddly enough. XP allows you to buy and upgrade special abilities. There are many many special abilities in this mode that can make you a murdering badass or equally piss off you opponents enough that they throw their controllers thru the TV screen. Not only can you select two weapons before the match you can take other folk’s weapons during the match. Plus the Maps are HUGE, but since you a TF their easy to cross at high speed.

I had a blast playing this game for the week I was home. I went thru the campaign twice. Racked up some major kills in Multiplayer, and slaughtered hundreds on enemies in the Hored/Firefight mode.

I’ve been playing this, growing up with transformers I’ve had a total nerdgasm during the entire game. Including the song in the credits. I have it on ps3, if anyone wants too play online add me - jarradhouse.

imagine if they did an rpg where its the start of the war and you start off as a prototype and depending on your actions in missions you could either be autobot or decepticon. As you level up you get more of a chance to customize your transformer, starting off as pretty much a car with a pea shooter then being able too become equivalent too omega supreme. fapalicious.

42" Plasma here. Couldn’t imagine going back to a 27" tube.

I must have watched the end credits a dozen times after helping people finish the final boss fight, and they never got old. The theme song was written by the same guys who wrote “The Touch” for the 1986 movie, and those little animations crack me up. Plus those are the shortest credits I have ever seen on any video game.

If BioWare came in and did a KOTOR/Mass Effect stlye RPG using the Transformer brand, it would cause geek head explosions around the globe. There is plenty of places and time to expand the game series. Revisit some of the locales from the movie or even later cartoon series. I wouldn’t complain about blasting away at some sharkticons or playing Grimlock as he kicks his way out of Unicron’s ass. For now I will settle for some character and map packs for the WCF game. Wheeljack, Jazz, Tracks, Hound, Power Glide are all Autobots I’d like play as in multi-player or Escalation.

Sometimes when I’m gone for extended periods I’ll take the X-box with me, but I usually just play arcade games like Castle Crashers or Braid. Big visual games like Halo or MW2 I wait to play once I’m back home.

I have a 40" LCD, but there is this radiator on the wall that prevents the couch from being close enough to the tv, so I play FPS’s on my 23" PC monitor and I can get up close to it so I can see everything a bit better.

Bujo, I just order a set of those FPS Freeks - thanks for that!

I’ve used them for a year or so now, and love them. They feel absolutely natural to me now, and controllers without them feel weird. Which is good because they are tough to take off once they are on.

It’s cool, I got 2 remotes so I’ll always have the option not to use them.

I need some good headphones next, then the unfair advantage will really kick in!

the ones that i have are great, i’ve linked them here before but: http://www.turtlebeach.com/products/xbox-gaming-headsets/ear-force-x31.aspx

i still don’t know what the “effects” button does, but i think it has something to do with how accurately it places noises to where they happen in-game.
