BTW AlexC1, if you want the backwards compatibility (might as well right?) and storage size, you can easily upgrade your ps3 fatty to 500 gb for about 80$ by swapping in a new HD. I used a Segate Barracude Data 2.5 inch drive at 7200 rpm. You may want to go with a 5400 rpm since it’s closer to the ps3’s native speed (lower chance of overheating) but mine works excellent. I store hundreds of gigs of music, movies, pics and game saves on mine and I think i still have about 250gigs left. They really do just pop in and out and you only have to work on backing up your 'ish and getting your updates.
If you want to swap out hard drives, go for the 5400RPM option mainly because it’s quieter. I have a PVR box which supposedly “died” a couple weeks ago - I put a 7200rpm drive in there and it’s too damn noisy now, though it does work.

X that sucks. Were there any warnings? Frequent feezing, sound abnormally loud? I’m wondering because it sounds like you use yours just about exactly how I use mine and i’ve heard about this total crap-out issue happening. Mine hasn’t frozen more than maybe 3 times in the last 2 years but it often sounds like a jet engine.

There was absolutely no warning. It went from working great to not working at all instantly while playing a dvd. It happened so fast I thought I had hit the remote by accident.

I can’t wait for this game to come out…

I know I’m late to the game but I’m thinking about picking this up, I just can’t decide on pc or xbox. I’m mainly concerned with the controls, is the setup on the xbox good or is it a giant clusterfuck?
I own both. The controls for the 360 version isn’t too bad, however there are some issues that you may/may not deem to be important:

  • the xbox version does not allow a full tactical view: which allows you to look at the battle’s from a distance, tactical positions etc.
  • there isn’t as many enemies on the screen at one time, compared to the pc version
  • no user generated content on xbox
  • you cannot multi-select etc.
    list goes on…

Graphically the PC version is also superior.

Thanks, I think I’ll end up getting the pc version. Ofcourse I’ll have to wait until I get around to getting my new computer but I would rather wait and get the better experiance.
A good decision, another point I forgot (you may find it useful)
The release of ‘Dragon Age 2’ will see a major change in the way the game is played; so that it is better suited for the xbox/ps3 etc (more platform based). However bioware has mentioned that the PC version of the game will be different and will have the many options that were present in the first.

Professor X:

With the games that you would like to play as backwards compatible, would you consider trying a PS2 emulator?

I really don’t play any of those games. I still have my ps2 hooked up to my tv. I never use it. I played GTASA when my ps3 broke and it just seems primitive now compared to what I’ve been looking at for the past two years.

There are too many decent games about to come out for the ps3 for me to really be worried about the ps2 any longer aside from nostalgia.

Guys, the new ps3 shuts off automatically when the tv goes off. That alone should hopefully prevent this from happening again. I never thought twice about leaving it on before.

Do you have a Sony TV?

I think Sony do this with a lot of their electronics - I have a Sony TV and receiver and they will detect when either is switched on/off and do the same.

Nope. The tv is Panasonic so this is new to me. I do like that feature though if it will keep it from melting again.

It actually gives you that option now to sync all HDMI components so when one goes off, the other goes off.

Huge news broke yesterday Zach Snyder is directing Superman movie after he does Sucker Punch. Maybe we can have some other villians besides Lex Luther we have Brianac, Bizarro, General Zod, Mentallo, Mr Myxphlic(however you spell it), or even a combo team up. Just please no more Luthor or Richard Pryor

Their mistake in this last movie was acting like tha last 30 years in comics and tv hadn’t happened. Even if you don’t watch it. Smallville (tv show) changed the way that character is portrayed. They spent the last ten years making it clear that the man LIKES being Clark. That is who he really is. He is only Superman because he has to be…but he would trade that for a quiet life on a farm with Lois any day of the week.

I think showing this is a central point to understanding the character…instead of literally treating him like a God as they did in the last movie. He isn’t Jesus and doesn’t want to be.

James “Logan Wolverine” Howlett as a howling commando interesting I wish the animation was consistant, Cap’s sheild mysteriously changed size throughout but worth the watch

The original arcade X-Men game based off the pilot Pryde in the X-Men cartoon, I spent many a summer at Old Orchard Beach throwing in quarters playing this game. I almost want to buy a playstation to get this…almost

yes too bad they’ve killed arcades, I miss going to an arcade and meeting live people. I feel almost like Adam Sandler in Funny People talkign about myspace.

Have any of you tried the playstation network lately? I know this is old to most of you, but being able to rent a movie that easily is just cool as hell to me.

Also, Assassin’s Creed II has some addons that open the game up to additional levels and content if you have beat it already.

I guess technically they could add onto a game for years if the add ons were significant enough.

Fallout 3 did it. Strung out mini-expansions over the course of a year. 5 or 6 of them, 10 bucks a pop, 2-4 hours a piece. Comparable to a lot of stand alone single player games in time.

I bring this up because New Vegas drops in a week and my inner nerd is about to lose his shit.

Edited like twice, my grammar sucks ass late at night.

XBox Live has been doing that for some time now X…come to the dark side. It beckons you.

^ Indeed. I wish the games were all playable cross-platform - that would make changing between consoles a lots easier if you don’t want to give up a library of over 40 games.

I’ve been testing the new 360 dashboard update coming at the start of November. It’s slick!

They just updated the voice chat quality, and it’s a lot better - only working for people in the Beta program for now.

Jesus, will you just join XBOX live, X? Pootie, RSGZ, Worm, and I are waiting for you. I promise I won’t T-bag you in Halo. I won’t even blow you up with C4 in MW2.
