I wanted to get another one eventually anyway with more memory.

I couldn’t even get it to eject to the dvd. You know i actually bought the bigger ps3 at the time, the 80gig,(or rather was bought for me) and i was so disappointed. I dunno if they fixed this with the 120gig, but the 80s cant play ps2 games. I have all these awesome ps2 games i couldnt play because of my stupid ps3-pissed me off something fierce.
No, none of my games are backwards compatible…which does suck on some level because I haven’t played GTASA in about two years.

My PS3 worked fine for over two years. I did have a habit of leaving it on 24/7 and doing shit like leaving a game on pause all day long until I could get back to it.

I am actually not surprised it overheated considering just how much I use it. I do a lot of my internet surfing on it as well so it has basically been on for over two years with no breaks.

Hahah then yea, the poor thing needed to break. I dunno, honestly, console gaming really died by Ps2 era. I mean i played several of the ps3 RPG style games, and enjoyed them, but they just werent AS good.

My gaming is turning purely into a computer thing these days. They just dont make console games like they used to. I was always a RPG player, so games like Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy 3 and 7 were just the pinnacle of game play. IT hasnt gotten better than those, they are still 3 of the greatest games of all time. It seems more and more that Graphics are being substituted for gameplay.

Thats why i mostly moved on to MMOs in like junior high. Started up with Old school Everquest. Then came WoW in highschool. Loved that game, but blizzard just made it more and more retard friendly. Made end game playable for the morons, but it removed the Pro status aspect from actual good players. Gaming these days is getting worse and worse for me. I find myself picking up old games. Lol actually picked up my Ninja gaiden the other day for Nintendo. Beat it in 15mins…but it was funny as hell.

That’s what happened to mine, but I managed to get the disc out before it t-totally died. They gave me the option of either getting another 60gb, or for a few dollars more, getting a new slim. I chose the 60gb because backwards-compatibility is more important for me than memory size.

It only took about a week and a half from start to finish for me to get mine back. You fill out all the forms, pay the money, then they send you a UPS box to put it all in. They don’t “fix” anything, they just send you a new one.

What number did you call?

The new one should be here by Thursday so I’m not too bummed about it…plus, from what you wrote, this may finally give me a chance to have one that is backwards compatible if they replace it.

I won’t be leaving mine on all day long after this though. Had I known it was even at risk of overheating, I would have placed it side ways so the bottom wouldn’t heat up and been more careful overall.

I can say though that Sony built a machine that can take being run into the ground all day for two years before failing.

Probably longer in some cases, it seems to be a luck of the draw situation for many.

My 360 is on a lot too, sometimes weeks at a time though it’s also had a fair amount of off time. I think it’s around 2 years old now and still no problems - not a common occurance for many.

Thanks. I really like my play station. I don’t know what I will do until tomorrow afternoon.

Maybe I will try going “outside” as the young people call it.

LOL

Can’t link the URL but there is a new Avenger’s cartoon starting on the 10th of Oct on Disney XD. In order to promote it and get the folks caught up Marvel and their owners Disney(shudder) are showing mini cartoon teasers these teasers are 5 minutes long and follow the movies.

The guy voicing Iron Man has a Downey timber to his voice. The cartoons have been fun you can click the link for the first episode and follow them as they go. I can’t wait for the Black Panther and Captain America episodes in a few days

I know I’m late to the game but I’m thinking about picking this up, I just can’t decide on pc or xbox. I’m mainly concerned with the controls, is the setup on the xbox good or is it a giant clusterfuck?

I just Finished watching the new Superman Batman DVD and this is b far the closet to the original story that I can remember. Big Barda, Artemis, and Krypto all make an appearence without a who are they explanation awesome, also they turn up the violence a notch from Red Hood

Yep. Possibly the most realistic character interaction I’ve seen in an animated movie like this. I mean, the fight scenes were done so well, you almost felt like slowing the movie down to watch the choreography.

I hate that people are downloading it instead of buying it though. If you guys want more shit like this, you sort of have to support it.

I own both. The controls for the 360 version isn’t too bad, however there are some issues that you may/may not deem to be important:

  • the xbox version does not allow a full tactical view: which allows you to look at the battle’s from a distance, tactical positions etc.
  • there isn’t as many enemies on the screen at one time, compared to the pc version
  • no user generated content on xbox
  • you cannot multi-select etc.
    list goes on…

Graphically the PC version is also superior.

This is epic. I really like the way this was written. They act like real people. Wonder Woman acts like she might kick Superman’s ass at any minute if he says anything off to her.

This is truly the best one they’ve made yet. They animation is better than anything released up to this point.

DC is killing Marvel right now.

Edit: They took much of the design from the Smallville tv show. Those Kryptonian characters as well as the design of the Kent Farm are exactly the same as on the show.
Fuck DC. They’re nothing without Batman and Superman.

The movie was good though. Loved the action. I liked the Green Lantern movie better though.

Very debatable, Spider man has some damn good villians. With the exception of Luthor & Braniac Superman’s villians are kinda lame and non existant.

Dr. Doom
Thanos
Apocalypse
Magneto
Dark Phoenix
Super Skrulls
Ultron
Sabertooth
Kingpin
Bullseye
Red Skull
Juggernaut
Galactus
Loki

Just a small list of Marvel villians that are, in my opinion cool.

Anyone know of any decent comic storylines getting ready to start? I was a super hardcore comic fan back in the day (late 80s - late 90s), then just on/off since, and now I’m trying to get back into it.

After college I lived near a comic shop and managed to come in mid-ways into the 52 series as well as managed to pick up a few story arcs in the Superman/Batman line. Since then it’s just been random one-shots now and then.

Also, wtf happened to Spawn? I have all of the first 50, most of the 2nd 50, and then I caught some of the apocalypse-ish storyline back in 05/06. Spawn was definitely my go-to back in the day.

Juggernaut,Magneto, Dark Phoenix, Sabertooth have all been on the side of Good. Its a toss up. But I see your point.

X that sucks. Were there any warnings? Frequent feezing, sound abnormally loud? I’m wondering because it sounds like you use yours just about exactly how I use mine and i’ve heard about this total crap-out issue happening. Mine hasn’t frozen more than maybe 3 times in the last 2 years but it often sounds like a jet engine.

BTW AlexC1, if you want the backwards compatibility (might as well right?) and storage size, you can easily upgrade your ps3 fatty to 500 gb for about 80$ by swapping in a new HD. I used a Segate Barracude Data 2.5 inch drive at 7200 rpm. You may want to go with a 5400 rpm since it’s closer to the ps3’s native speed (lower chance of overheating) but mine works excellent. I store hundreds of gigs of music, movies, pics and game saves on mine and I think i still have about 250gigs left. They really do just pop in and out and you only have to work on backing up your 'ish and getting your updates.
