I played the original Xcom back in high school and could not stop playing it, and yes that was 22 years ago.
You mean the turn based tactical X-Com?

Yes!

Its awesome.
I am going to go pick it up then. I have picked it up three times at the store and just have not bought it. I will buy one tonight

Thanks Orion.

There is an ego shooter though that semmingly sucks donkey balls, so caveat emptor.
What is an “ego shooter”? I do not play a lot of games, and really have not had much time with young kids and no game room to send them to. I am selective in my games, and when I buy one I play it over and over and over again. Almost got divorced over World of Warcraft. My wife though loved watching me play Skyrim because it was like watching a movie. You did not know what would come up next.
An Ego shooter is like Doom, which really set the standard.

You just run around in the ME, ME, ME perspective and kill people.
The whole game is an ego shooter, or just a portion of it?
No, there is X-Com which is precisely as you remember it, I played it too in Highschool

Well, no underwater stuff

There is X-Com The Bureau or some such which is an Ego Shooter that got voted down somehwat fiercely.
No consistent base assualting in the revamped XCOM though, but they did add in a sudden base defense mission with the new expansion, the failure of which leads to a direct fail state for the game, it’s also really hard and people will be lost. It’s one of the most fun parts of Enemy Within. The new multi-part council missions with the psionic squad-member (like the ones in the slingshot DLC with Zhang) are fun too, nice settings for them.
Hey, must get DLCs then, because yes, Base assaults only make sense.

But, when the original came out, you were like 2.

It is definitely worth it, there’s a ton more variety in UFO landing sites as well, not just forest and woodland stuff any more.

I went back and played the original for a bit after buying Enemy Unknown when it first came out and hearing all the flack about base assaults being gone and the change to interceptors and stuff. I didn’t play all too much of it because I was too focused on the newer one, but I’m glad that they’ve added a base assault in with this expansion.

The new terrorist EXALT thing they have going is kind of fun, but they don’t really become a threat later on, they don’t progress quickly enough to pose much of a problem, just an inconvenience, stressful early game though.

If you do it right, yes, but the first terrorist attack is no fun.

Later on I am just like pew, pew but the first one is Noooooooooo!!!, Noooooooooo!!!.

Except the one with the bridge, I always clean that up pretty quick

I expect the game to lose more of it’s shine again once everything stops being new after 1-2 playthroughs, but I think I’m okay with that, there’s still a lot more to play around with. I could always try to complete it on Impossible, that would take up a lot of time.

Have you tried to Arc stun one of the EXALT operatives? Kind of surprised me when I first tried that.

Worst list ever

Tom hardy would make a pretty good Brock, would have to play him a bit like Tommy in Warrior. Word on the street was they were trying to take the Flash Thompson Venom route a while back. I am a huge agent venom fan but they need to go the black spidey/brock/separation route first.

That dude who played Rorschach in Watchmen would make the best Carnage/Kasady everrrrrrrrrrr

Treated myself to a 2ds today with Pokemon Y and Donkey Kong Country. Pretty good shit so far.

Oh my I hope it’s good. I don’t know if I can take another hurt so soon after what they did with Colonial Marines.

^I just read a preview. I’m pretty sure it made me shit my pants.

Mmmmm yes.

Michael Douglas cast as Hank Pym? I did not see that coming

May be hope for Man of Steel 2/ Superman vs Batman yet as it’s been delayed.

Venom short film:

Wouldn’t have thought of Ryan Kwanten as an obvious choice for Eddie Brock, but he does a decent job in this.

Needed to consult my fellow nerds. Just finished my grad school apps so I now have time for video games again.

Keep in mind this is for the PS3. Should I get The Last of Us, Diablo 3, or AC4?

The Last of Us. Single player was my favourite gaming experience of this console generation, incredibly satisfying and gritty multiplayer also.

I got Diablo 3 but i’ve yet to complete it because my interest kind of fizzled out in the last act.

AC4 has become my favorite Assassins Creed. Shit is just fun plain and simple.
