Ehhh, I have the Genesis collection on PS3 and it’s freakin awesome. Phantasy star IV is awesome. Don’t even get me started on Shinning Force I & II.
All about that Golden Axe
Golden Axe was fantastic lol. Fucking treasure goblins.

Gauntlet Legends though omfg. I’m pretty sure the goal of Gauntlet Legends was actually an experiment to see if they could turn best friends into bitter, fist fighting enemies.
Well they succeeded many times in that experiment.

Anyone play the new Xcom game that came out during the summer? I am wanting to get it, but if it sucks a@@ I do not want to waste the money.

I played the original Xcom back in high school and could not stop playing it, and yes that was 22 years ago.

There is an ego shooter though that semmingly sucks donkey balls, so caveat emptor.

Yeah they’re just an arbitrary constant, C, pretty much.

To me graphics are meh. A game is good because it has a good plot or it is just fun to play. That is just my opinion. Graphics are like 4th on my list for a reason to buy a game.

What is an “ego shooter”? I do not play a lot of games, and really have not had much time with young kids and no game room to send them to. I am selective in my games, and when I buy one I play it over and over and over again. Almost got divorced over World of Warcraft. My wife though loved watching me play Skyrim because it was like watching a movie. You did not know what would come up next.

An Ego shooter is like Doom, which really set the standard.

You just run around in the ME, ME, ME perspective and kill people.

I play KOTAR I & II all the time. The graphics on that game sucks donkey balls, but the game is a blast. Same with the original HALO.

The whole game is an ego shooter, or just a portion of it?

Enemy Within is so fun, after all that small DLC I’m glad something came out that’s really worth the buy, it adds a significant amount to the game. If you like playing on Classic (or god forbid Impossible), the MEC troopers get redundant real quick though. Once some heavy damage enemies start coming in, without the benefit of cover, the MECs just get slaughtered. They’re really, really fun to play, but I wish they’d been a little more practical on higher difficulties, I find myself almost exclusively going with Gene mods now.

No, there is X-Com which is precisely as you remember it, I played it too in Highschool…

Well, no underwater stuff…

There is X-Com The Bureau or some such which is an Ego Shooter that got voted down somehwat fiercely.

No consistent base assualting in the revamped XCOM though, but they did add in a sudden base defense mission with the new expansion, the failure of which leads to a direct fail state for the game, it’s also really hard and people will be lost. It’s one of the most fun parts of Enemy Within. The new multi-part council missions with the psionic squad-member (like the ones in the slingshot DLC with Zhang) are fun too, nice settings for them.
