Gear is for Cheaters

The “Chris Shugart/Chad Waterbury/[insert contributor’s name here] is an Idiot” topic

The “Bulk vs Cut” debate

The “Can I stroke it before I max/ Will stroking it lower my test levels and ruin my hopes of becoming a Pro BB?” topic

The “He can’t be natural” debate

Have ALL of those really been beaten into the ground already?

I’ll end those debates right now: Chad Waterbury is NOT gay because he is natural and can still stroke it to muscular women to raise his T levels prior to a max lift while on a cutting diet.

Awesome! Now, do you know where I can buy pants to fit my gigantic, muscular legs?? Nothing fits :frowning:

There is no such place. People like you have to go to an online forum and complain.

I can’t believe someone started this thread and then tried to defend gear.

I’m just tired of people bringing up gear in an attempt to disparage the efforts of successful lifters and ruin other threads.

But what else would there be to talk about? It’s not like we are going to intelligently discuss training methods, or appreciate huge feats of strength.

We’ve already beaten the full body vs body part split argument into the ground. I’ve tried only somewhat successfully to derail threads with what’s your favorite lifting music, because that’s only been done a million times. There can only be so many favorite tatoo threads.

Really the only tangent left to go on is the geared vs raw. That’s just the way it is. Over and over and over.

Gigantic, muscular legs? Do you have any photographic evidence of said gigantic, musuclar legs?

Lift how you want. I personally lift raw and plan on keeping it that way because I feel lifting the weight raw is more rewarding to me, I also am going to remain drug free.

I feel geared lifters make a bigger deal about this shit than raw lifters. I also think that raw lifting is the ultimate way to see if someone is physically stronger than someone else because you don’t have to rely on your gear working properly, and different people can get different amounts of carryover from there gear. Raw lifing you rely on yourself and yourself alone, there is one factor and that is you.

Also if you don’t feel that geared lifting is cheating, then why would you defend it so hard? If I didn’t cheat and someone said I was, I know what I do, and don’t need to justify myself to anyone, so obviously something is not sitting right with you.

I see the anger and frusteration in your post and feel it is completey uneeded because it just makes you look like a jack ass and same goes from stronghold’s comments (nothing against you guys). The cursing is just unproffessional and makes you look unsophisticated when trying to debate someone, or get a point across.

Again I am not against geared lifting, I just think handleing things with alittle more selfrespect would recieve a better response.

Fine, what about sprinters and shoes? You don’t need shoes to sprint, yet there are special shoes just for sprinting.

Why use pads or helmets for football? They’re not necessary to play the game?

Why do baseball players wear gloves? You don’t need a glove to catch a ball. What’s the point?

Is it necessary for Olympic lifters to wear Olympic shoes? I don’t think so. I’ve weightlifted in my New Balance’s before.

I’ve armwrestled on my kitchen table for years; why do armwreslters need a special table?

Why use a chessboard for chess? Alexander Alekhine can play just fine without one.

Do skateboarders need pads and helmets? The kids down my block never use them?

I lifted weights for years before ever touching chalk. I guess that’s not necessary either.

If we looked hard enough, we could find several things not needed for any particular sport.

come on man. i honestly don’t care if people use gear or not. but some of those arguments are rediculous.

the only thing that does bother me is when some guy tries to discuss lifting with me, then gets excited b/c apparently ‘dude i weigh like 50lbs less than you and do 75+lbs on all your lifts’ so when i run into the guy at the gym and all his friends aren’t around he finally admits that all those lifts were with gear.

bullshit.

if you need a suit to squat 405 you should quit lifting.

also, comparing playing chess on a chessboard to lifting weight with briefs or a shirt is retarded. the chessboard is a fundamental part of the game, a bench shirt isnt fundamental to bench pressing.

3 whites means you squatted too deep!

Don’t you guys equally annoyed when someone posts a picture of their well developed physique and 10,000 posters jump on them immediately crying “steroids”?

Imagine the frustration a lifter who has busted his ass experiences when he sets a new PR or posts good numbers and the anti-gear crowd shows up.

This question: “Also if you don’t feel that geared lifting is cheating, then why would you defend it so hard?”

The fact that its not cheating is WHY we defend it so hard.

I love how so many people who never post in or compete in strength sports are suddenly throwing in their two cents. Great…more opinions from the peanut gallery.

Personally, I think using gear is fine, although it becomes a crutch for many. Just had my first meet, and was disgusted by a HS powerlifting team and their coach. A 14 year old doesn’t need to get into gear to squat 135 high bar, breaking at the knees first. He needs to build a foundation. The coach didn’t teach the kids proper form at all. He just told them to get suits and shirts.

By any chance, do you live within driving distance of carteret, NJ?

I love it when geared lifters get their panties in a wad. Takes like 45 minutes to re-adjust under the suit and it’s funny as hell to watch them squirm.

I think Modi and Austin_Bicep hit the nail on the head IMO.

No one has yet to call it cheating. Most people just disagree with using it.

That’s why I wear thongs under my briefs. No bunching. Ever.

Video or it didn’t happen. Those are the rules.

I don’t know shit about gear, but the way I see it gear vs. raw is like metal vs. wood bats in baseball. They are different tools for different rules versions of the basically same sport. Are you cheating when you bat .400 in a metal bat league but only .350 in a wood bat league? Is the metal bat doing the work for you? Just cause you have a better average in a metal league does not mean the sport is easier.

My only trouble with gear is (and it is not really the fault of gear itself) is the multitude of feds it has produced (not to mention drug testing, hand offs, mono lifts, etc). Simply from the perspective of a fan of the sport it seems like a single fed would maximize competition. Of course, it is probably not a realistic hope to see a single fed. How would you choose the rules? Besides, I wouldn’t want to stop anyone from lifting the way they want. But it’s just a thought.

I actually have a video of my most recent squat in my thong/Pro brief/Viking suit combo. You can’t see the thong or the briefs but they’re there. I think that the thong actually put about 5 extra pounds on my squat.

Yeah OKAAY! Put me in a bench shirt and load me up with 495 and I’ll probably barely unrack it and be crushed within moments. I don’t find it cheating in any way shape or form. Then Tiger Woods is cheating because he bulked up his frame. etc, etch, blah blah blah Fool me once shame on me…fool me twice, shame on…(stutter like a tard) sshshhame…shame on.
