ZEB’s second argument. He disagrees with the paradigm, but his proposed alternative is so ludicrous (to me) I didn’t bother to consider it. Thus I read it as, “There is no proof, therefore it isn’t true”. Again, a logical fallacy, although perhaps obscured by the vagueness of the original author.

No, this is weakness in argument. If he prefaced every statement with ‘may’, I couldn’t possibly counter, because he hasn’t committed to either view. Debate over such a point is useless. I’ve already expressed what I thought of that particular example above.
I’ve known quite a few partially educated people who love through around such accusations of logical fallacy - in most cases not only are they wrong in their assumptions but they simply have no counter argument whatsoever - they’re really just using the accusation as a vaguely pretentious way of saying “shut up.”

I don’t care who (or how) other people are screwing. I don’t know why anybody else is overly interested in what other people are doing sexually, except that maybe their own sex lives are not taking up enough of their own attention.
